Today, the Thomson Fire Department responded to a structure fire. Thanks to the quick response and outstanding teamwork of everyone involved, the fire was brought under control and extinguished in a short amount of time.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Fulton Fire Department and Savanna Fire Department for their prompt assistance and support on scene. Incidents like these are a great reminder that no department stands alone. When neighboring agencies work together, we are able to protect our communities more effectively and safely.

Thank you to all of the firefighters and first responders who answered the call today. Your professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving others never go unnoticed.

🚑🚒🚓 We often get questions and see a lot of speculation whenever our emergency vehicles respond to a call.

While we can’t share details about active incidents due to privacy and respect for those involved, we hope this graphic helps answer some of the most common questions about why you may see different emergency vehicles responding together.

Every call is different, and the type and number of units dispatched depends on the information received by 911 and the resources needed to keep everyone safe. Sometimes it’s a minor medical issue, sometimes it’s a serious emergency, and sometimes additional units are sent simply to ensure enough help is available if needed.

We appreciate the community’s concern and support. If you see us responding, please give emergency vehicles plenty of room, avoid spreading rumors, and remember that someone may be experiencing one of the worst days of their life.

Tonight’s training focused on engine operations—one of the most important skills we practice to ensure we’re ready when our community needs us.

Engine operations involve much more than simply driving the fire engine. Members trained on:
• Proper apparatus positioning for emergency scenes
• Pump operations and establishing a reliable water supply
• Deploying and advancing hose lines
• Operating nozzles and managing water flow
• Team communication and coordination
• Equipment checks and troubleshooting

Every drill helps build confidence, teamwork, and muscle memory so that when the tones drop, we can respond quickly, safely, and effectively.

Thank you to all of our members who continue to dedicate their time to training and serving the Thomson community. Your commitment to learning and improving is what makes our department stronger.
