I was introduce to Disc Golf by my father-in-law Paul after I retired from the U.S. I have been playing regularly now for five years. Started playing with a few retired military friends: Darin, Greg, Bryan, Bryant, Ken, Dan, Doug, Eddie, Joe, Joseph, Melvin, Neil, Neal, Randy, Rene, Rico, Tester, Mason, Julie, Paul, Dave and Wes. One day I saw this post on Facebook from Wes Smith
a local Thomson, GA man and he had worked with the Sweetwater Park Director to gain permission to build a disc golf course on the Sweetwater Park. And I said sweet… Disc Golf Course in Thomson, GA where I live!!! A little about my love of disc golf and the friends I have been blessed to meet playing the game. I am an average disc golf player who enjoys playing disc golf with excellent friends. I cannot run anymore, so this sport is ideal for my knees. I play 3-5 times a week depend on the weather and time of year. The folks I play with come from all walks of life. Analysts, Manpower Development, Waffle House Cook, Logistics Management Specialist, Information Assurance Specialist, Pipe fitter, Waffle house Manager, Insurance Salesman, Bus Driver, Store Clerk, Soldier, Information Technology Specialist, Medical Technical Repair Specialist, Grounds Supervisor, Dental Assistant, Airplane Inspector and In-Home Care Specialist. I drive from Thomson, GA to the following parks to play disc golf in the local area. IDGC - Jim Warner Memorial

This course would be the first course in McDuffie County and free to play. The estimate cost for 18 baskets is $6000. Wes Smith and I are going to do the manual labor of laying out the course and installing the baskets. We are asking for your help with the basket purchase. . Please support Sweetwater Park Disc Golf fund raiser… Every little bit counts towards our course. I have listed 22 friends and family in my story. If I can get 14 of their friends and family each to donate $20, Wes Smith and I can purchase and install Disc Golf baskets at Sweetwater Park’s new Disc Golf Course in Thomson, GA.
