Last night, the Thomson Bulldogs Golf Team held its 2026 end-of-season banquet.

Samuel Amerson, Ethan Edmunds, and Wyatt Skvarca were all named to the Area 2 AA First Team, while Spencer Butler earned Second Team honors. Sam Amerson was also named the Area 2 AA Player of the Year after winning the tournament with a 2-under-par 70, and he capped off the night by receiving the AJC AA All-State First Team Award as the number two ranked golfer in AA.

In addition to regional and state honors, several player-specific awards were presented. Tripp Brantley earned the Most Improved Player Award, while Sam Amerson was recognized for his academic dedication by taking home the Highest GPA Award for the team.

The 2026 Bulldogs won the Area 2 AA Championship, winning 14 matches, and securing a fourth-place finish at the State tournament after holding the lead through 27 holes.

Coach Lewis also presented Senior Awards as a thank you to graduating seniors Charles Ducey and Spencer Butler.

FFA students from Thomson High School and Thomson-McDuffie Middle School recently returned from a week at the Summer Leadership Camp at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington. The camp brought together students from across the state for a week dedicated to teamwork, relationship-building, and leadership development.

Under the guidance of Rick DuBose and Whitney Watchorn, the group embraced this year’s theme: FEARLESS. The program challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, face new challenges, and discover their potential.

Students participated in a variety of recreational and competitive activities throughout the week including softball, volleyball, mud course, ping pong, co****le, crafts, a speech contest, an essay contest, swimming and the blob!

The Thomson boys' team earned the Leadership Team of the Week award. This honor is given to the team demonstrating the highest level of leadership, encouragement, and a positive attitude during the entire week of camp.

Common items to have canned include tomatoes, peas, beans, squash, peaches and blueberries. Other items to consider canning are juices, spaghetti sauces (no meat), soups (no meat), salsa, applesauce and pie fillings! The cost is $1.25 per quart sized can.
Enjoy summer produce all winter long by having it canned at the Thomson High School FFA Cannery located at 802 Whiteoak Road in Thomson!

The Thomson High School Girls Basketball Team is hosting a Youth Basketball Camp this summer for ages 6–13! Come get better, have fun, and make memories on the court.

The camp will be held Tuesday, June 23 – Thursday, June 25, from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. each day. The cost is $40 (includes a t-shirt!), but if you are one of the first 25 to sign up, you will qualify for the Early Bird Special of $25!

The camp will focus on ball handling, shooting, agility, passing, and defense. On Thursday there will be scrimmage games, prizes, medals, and certificates!
