Yesterday (Saturday, 12/19) was a wholesome day with good messages, great interaction, and delicious food in honor of all veterans during their Christmas luncheon. It was heartwarming to see so many people show their respect and support of the colors presented; with participation of singing the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance. The committee members did an excellent job in entertaining the vets and their families. We played the white elephant gift exchange after the excellent messages delivered by Lester Emerson, Chapter President and Edmund Yazzie, Council Delegate. The Agency vet's commander plus members from other vets organizations were present as well. We enjoyed singing a couple of Christmas songs lead by Ms. Nadine including overseeing the menu and serving food, coordinating the clothing drive, and getting everyone involved in the Christmas spirit! I was lucky to win good prizes but were 'stolen' from me (dish platter; 20 bucks, and an axe); I still got the platter! It was a fun gathering! Before our luncheon, Sunny Dooley, former Miss Navajo, provided a story telling session. Nice to notice the audience quite intent on listening to stories she told. Next veterans meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 3, 2016 beginning at 7am. Agenda will be posted.
