💡“You can’t stay here but you can’t stay there either” - Where are the people expected to go city? If they’re forced to leave the Parkway, it’s inevitable that another camp will immediately be created somewhere else that will be disliked, reported, deemed “a nuisance”, and cleared again; continuing the cycle of band-aiding the problem which is (at times) just as costly as getting people into housing and/or safe alternatives.

💡The article mentions numerous complaints of waste, trash, and needles came in from occupants of surrounding “high priced” condos and apartments in the area (understandable); but what about the “high priced” lives in the area without a place to call home nor a place to even rest at night who have none or limited options or refuge? All the whys, shouldas, and couldas don’t matter; people are suffering and in need (period)
💡If a solution is not yet tangible, let them stay until one is; instead of shuffling people around who have no where to go and trying their best to survive-whatever the reason is that brought them there. The very least that could be done is designate a safe space with access to water, bathrooms, food, blankets, a day plan, and wellness/social services, as a solution is created to clear the encampments the right way... transitioning people from the street to safe and supportive replacement. (I can think of several.) If the city can scrounge up millions to make “hostile seating” to deter sleeping and gathering in parks, some more millions can be put where it counts to address the real problem; getting thousands off the street.

💡Winter is coming and it’s already getting chilly at night. Extend your prayer for our neighbors experiencing homelessness and also for the overseers and decision makers. Our Savior sits high and looks low and no matter who says what, he has the final say!

💡Leave a 💚 if you made it to the end🥇- (lol). Stay encouraged, keep your faith - Love, your neighbor! 💚
