Re-elect Mindy Ross DASD School Board Director - Region 8

Re-elect Mindy Ross DASD School Board Director - Region 8 I am running for re-election to DASD School Board Director for West Bradford and a portion of East Caln Township. ABOUT
My name is Mindy Ross.

I am honored to have my name on the ballot to support the children, families and community in Downingtown! I’m running for the School Board because I want the best for our kids. My vision is to see every child thrive in the Downingtown Area School District. MY PLATFORM:
I have 3 priorities as School Board Director:

1-I am a huge fan of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I want every child to feel

valued and included at school. We should have the best resources available to include and support students and teachers of all backgrounds—all nationalities, orientations, ethnicities, beliefs, and abilities.

2-I am also passionate about Full Day Kindergarten. Although Downingtown is an outstanding school district, this is an area where Downingtown would benefit by catching up with our neighbors. Half-day kindergarten is a relic from another time, when children typically did not attend preschool and kindergarten was a child’s first classroom experience. I was a public elementary school teacher for 9 years. These days, in order to give reading, writing and math the time they need, half-day teachers are unable to include recess or make much room for creativity. Half-day K also places strain on Downingtown families. Too many families resort to charter schools to make school work for their children. Their energy—not to mention thousands of tax dollars every year—leave DASD. Transitioning to Full-Day Kindergarten will keep money in our district in the long run. By giving our children the full day, we will be able to foster their love of learning and nourish their mental health, while at the same time, we can give them more robust academic readiness. It can even help to close the achievement gap for disadvantaged families and even the playing field for students across the district. It’s a win-win.

3-My third priority is our children’s mental health. The last year and a half have been hard on our community. Now more than ever, we need to let our children know they are supported and have places to turn when they need help. As School Board Director, I will do everything I can to make sure our children are able to get the support they need. If you have a question for me or an idea for the school board, reach out! Email me [email protected] . I would love to connect.

Another opportunity to support the students of our district! 💙💛💙

When you give on Giving Tuesday (Dec 2), you help keep learning on the move.

DCEF’s Mobile Innovation Lab turns parking lots and playgrounds into hubs of creativity — and in summer, it becomes a Mobile Book Club where kids meet authors and fall in love with reading.

Your gift keeps that spirit of curiosity rolling. Two weeks until Giving Tuesday!

💙💛💙 A HUGE Thank You, DASD Community! 💙💛💙

I’m finally getting this posted (sorry for the delay!), but the generosity shown here absolutely deserves to be celebrated. These incredible donations for our DASD Buddy Boxes and school food pantries are nothing short of amazing.

From canned goods and pasta to breakfast items and pantry staples, you filled bags and bags with support for students and families who need it most. 🥫🍎💙

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, or helped spread the word. Our community truly shines when we come together like this, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

So grateful to our teachers and board members and administrators that worked through negotiations to come to an agreement. It isn’t always easy, but the work sure seems worth it! 💙💛💙

The Downingtown Area School District Board of Education and the Downingtown Area Education Association (DAEA) are pleased to announce the successful negotiation of a new five-year collective bargaining agreement.

Ratified by DAEA members on October 31 and approved by the DASD Board on November 5, this agreement reflects a shared commitment to supporting our teachers and providing students with the best education possible. 💙💛

Thank you, to each and every one of you who voted, volunteered, donated time or resources, shared a yard sign, or simply talked with a neighbor about my campaign. I am honored and humbled to have won re-election, and I know this was truly a team effort.
My gratitude goes especially to my family (Corey, the boys, and even our dogs!), my campaign team, and every supporter who believed we can continue to make a difference in our public schools and in our community.
Now the real work begins. I will listen, I will learn, and I will serve all of you, not just those who voted for me. Let’s keep moving forward together.
Thank you for your trust and your confidence. I am proud to serve again, as your school board member in District 8.

Please take a look on infinite campus for your survey!

This is one way we gather your input into decisions that impact you and your family.

Ever wonder how the DASD school calendar is created? 📅 🕵

Each year, we work to balance student learning, staff needs, and community priorities. Staff and families of current students are receiving an email this evening with details on how to share feedback through our annual calendar survey.

This year, we’re exploring a few possible changes, including consideration of a full week off for spring break and possibly taking off the Friday before Labor Day.

We appreciate your input as we plan ahead! 💙💛

Commenting has been turned off but we are happy to take questions and comments at [email protected]. Thank you!
