We were onsite at the schools today to TACO 'bout the Bond! We handed out yummy breakfast tacos along with flyers showcasing the facts and how the district would be positively impacted by the passage of the bond. Scroll through to see the fun, and the flyer!!!

The bond primarily addresses urgent needs such as providing space for students and staff currently in portable buildings, accommodating future growth, and enhancing safety and security measures. Failure to pass the bond would impede the financing of new construction using existing funds, because as we learned, Maintenance and Operations (M&O) funds are allocated for operational expenses like salaries and utilities, not construction.

Without bond approval, students in portables would likely remain in those facilities, and any growth might necessitate purchasing additional portables. Alternatively, the district may need to reassess its transfer policies, potentially eliminating or restricting transfers, as a last resort. Additionally, funding safety and security upgrades could require diminishing the current savings balance.

The bond package reflects input from community members, and, if approved, there will be opportunities for community input during the design phase. Financial and construction updates would also be shared with the community throughout the bond's duration.
