The Caln Township Police Department is a full time police department which provides service to a population of almost 14,000 residents, over seventy miles of roadways and several hundred business establishments. CALN TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
The Caln Township Police Department uses social media as a method of effectively informing the public about department services, issues, investigations, recruitment and other relevant events. All persons named on department social media sites are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Department social media sites are designed and maintained to prevent unauthorized posting of content by the public. Public comment is welcome and encouraged, however, comments should be relevant and respectful of other participants. The department reserves the right to delete any public post or comment that contains:
• Profane, vulgar, and/or obscene content.
• Sexually suggestive or harassing content.
• Nudity in a participant’s profile picture.
• Threats of physical or bodily harm.
• Defamatory statements.
• Disparaging language or hate speech targeting an individual’s
race, color, religion, ancestry, age, gender, sexual orientation,
gender identity or expression, national origin, physical or
mental condition or disability.
• Commercial content promoting or soliciting services or
products.
• Content promoting political organizations.
• Name calling and/or personal attacks.
• Spam, such as same content posted repeatedly.
• Personally identifying, sensitive and/or private information.
• Content that is in violation of any federal, state or local law.
• Language or content that suggests or encourages illegal
activity.
• Content that reasonable compromises the safety or security of
law enforcement personnel or the public.
• Information that reasonably compromises the outcome of a
criminal or personnel investigation, and/or the proceedings of
public systems.
• Copyright or trademark infringement. Department social media sites are not monitored 24/7 and should not be used to contact the department to request emergency services or immediate response, or with questions, requests or concerns related to an open case. Opinions expressed by participants on department social media sites do not reflect an endorsement or opinion on the part of the police department. The Chief of Police reserves the right to ban a participant for multiple violations of this policy at any time and without prior notice.

A recent inspection identified some issues with the N. Barley Sheaf Road bridge over Valley Run. While we work rectify the problem, our engineers have recommended that we weight restrict the bridge temporarily out of an abundance of caution. The weight restriction applies to vehicles over 15 tons.

Caln Township and Police administrative offices will close starting at 2:00 PM Today, Friday, May 22nd and will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday!

Township and Police administrative offices will be closed starting at 2:00 PM tomorrow, May 22nd, and all day on Monday, May 25th, for Memorial Day.

Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed one day next week due to the holiday (Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday, etc.)

We just completed National Police Week, May 10-16, 2026.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to the Caln Township Police officers and all Law Enforcement officers. Knowing you are watching over our families and our community brings us peace of mind. Thank you for the long hours, the difficult days, and the genuine care you show our community, and thank you for putting your lives on the line to ensure justice and safety prevails.

We would like to send out a Huge "Thank You" to Minquas Fire Company and Texas Roadhouse for providing our officers with lunch last week and also to everyone who stopped by the Caln Township Police department to extend their appreciation and express thanks to our officers.
