A recent inspection identified some issues with the N. Barley Sheaf Road bridge over Valley Run. While we work rectify the problem, our engineers have recommended that we weight restrict the bridge temporarily out of an abundance of caution. The weight restriction applies to vehicles over 15 tons.

🚑 Caln Township Department of Building & Life Safety is proud to announce that all full-time firefighters are now Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certified.

This achievement reflects our department’s ongoing commitment to professional development, training, and providing the highest level of service to our community.

Whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, or public service calls, our residents can be confident that every full-time firefighter in our department is trained and certified to provide emergency medical care when it matters most.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our firefighters demonstrated in reaching this milestone and their continued commitment to enhancing their skills and improving the services we provide to the residents and visitors of Caln Township.

Two key members of our operations, Assistant Fire Marshal Marc DeVita (left) and Deputy Fire Marshal/Captain Ryan Lewis (right) seen here discussing the days activities.

Marc is a 5 year part-time employee at Caln and a full-time Reading City Firefighter, and Ryan is a 3 year employee. Both of them provide essential services to the residents and visitors to the Township, both on emergency responses and behind the scenes.

Today, our township's emergency service providers from diverse backgrounds convened to strengthen interagency relationships, share a meal, and engage in friendly competition ahead of the Holiday weekend. We acknowledge our strategic partnerships with Fire, EMS, and Police, driving positive change through collaboration and unity! 💪

A Platoon assisted Station 37 on a working dwelling fire in East Fallowfield Township last night. Career and volunteer crews operated with mutual aid companies to extinguish a garage fire with extension into the residence.

As always, our thoughts go out to the families affected by this loss.

C Platoon commenced their shift with a response to a 5-vehicle accident on the East Bound Bypass. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported; however, 4 vehicles required towing and the bypass was temporarily closed for approximately 1 hour while crews worked to clear the scene safely.

The crew subsequently responded to a medical assistance call and continues to remain prepared for additional incidents throughout the shift. With storms pending in the area, we encourage everyone to stay weather aware. Hopefully crews can stay cool, hydrated, and ready to handle whatever may lie ahead for the remainder of the shift.

This evening, crews operated on the scene of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

Units worked alongside our mutual aid partners from iafflocalf257 and Coatesville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3790 to safely extricate the occupant and provide patient care. Incidents like these highlight the importance of training, teamwork, and coordinated operations between agencies.
