Thornton Fire Engine 17-1, along with Engine 7-4, responded to a vehicle accident on northbound I-5 just north of Peltier Rd involving two semi-trucks. Tragically, one fatality has been confirmed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this incident. We ask everyone to please drive safely, stay alert, and be fair and patient while traveling. Your actions on the road can make a difference. 🚒🖤

Members of the Thornton Rural Fire Protection District had a great time participating in Career Day at New Hope Elementary School!✏️
Our crew enjoyed connecting with students, sharing what it means to serve the community, and giving them a closer look at the fire service. From equipment demonstrations to answering questions, it was a great opportunity to inspire the next generation.

Today, our local Thornton firefighters joined forces with incredible Thornton community staff to host a fun-filled Easter egg hunt! 🚒🥚🌷
Families gathered, kids filled their baskets with colorful eggs, and smiles were everywhere. It was a great day of connection, laughter, and community spirit.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made today so memorable! 🐣💛

A-Shift wrapped up the day by lending a helping hand—finishing hedge trimming for a homeowner who wasn’t able to complete it. 💪🌿

📚👨‍🚒 Our firefighters had a great time visiting New Hope Elementary for Read Across America!

Members of the Thornton Fire District spent the morning reading with students, sharing stories, and talking about the importance of learning and community. Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they followed along with the stories made the day extra special.

Thank you to the staff and students at New Hope Elementary for welcoming us—we loved being part of Read Across America! 🇺🇸📖

At approximately 10:32 AM, Thornton Engine 17-1 responded to a report of a structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the rear of a single-story home. Firefighters quickly determined the cause to be an outside cooking fire and were able to contain it to a covered patio area, preventing further damage to the home.

This past Friday, December 12, 2025, the Thornton community came together for a wonderful evening at the Christmas Parade. After the parade, families and neighbors gathered to enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and time together, making the night even more special ☕🍪
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this a memorable holiday celebration. We’re proud to serve such a strong and supportive community.
We can’t wait until next year! ❤️

Yesterday, at 12:58 PM, Thornton Fire responded alongside our partners from , , and for a reported structure fire.
Crews arrived on scene to find a kitchen fire with extension into the attic. Firefighters quickly went to work and brought the fire under control, preventing further damage.
We would like to commend a community member for her brave actions in alerting the homeowner and assisting her safely out of the residence before firefighters arrived. 👏
We are grateful for the quick, coordinated response of all agencies and the continued support of our community.
