Today Lisa and Erik Gudmundson filled a truck with items from Post 501 for Post 7945. They hauled the truckload of badly needed items to Post 7945. Jesse Eastburn gave us a deal saving the post hundreds to help our Post including a replacement sound system.

Only two volunteers painted again this time Lisa and Steve. Just like last year when it was just Lisa and Caleigh. I helped but the bathrooms were primarily painted by my wife and 11 year old daughter last year.

The post looks better and functions better because of Steve and Lisa.

These members support the people making this place better.

(UPDATE March 9, 2026, the Joint Budget Committee has tabled the sweep of the VTF for now. The Chair of the Joint Budget Committee commented that all the emails they were receiving showed them how important it was for the future of Veterans.)

(Good Job everyone!!)

Today, the Joint Budget Committee of the Colorado General Assembly is considering a vote to divert $2 million from the Veterans Trust Fund to help balance the state’s General Fund budget. During COVID, $3 million was swept from this same fund for the same purpose.

The Veterans Trust Fund provides critical support through veteran service organizations, offering emergency grants for housing, transportation, food, utilities, and essential home repairs. Over the years, thousands of struggling and homeless veterans have received life-changing assistance because of this funding.

Balancing the state budget on the backs of Colorado’s veterans, men and women who fought and sacrificed for our nation’s safety, livelihood, and way of life, must stop!

Colorado’s veterans kept their promise. The state must keep its promise to them.
