🎓 Big milestone today: FRCC classes start for our concurrent enrollment students!

Westgate's high school runs on an early college model. Freshmen can take one FRCC course a semester, and it scales up from there, so by graduation, students can walk away with up to 60 transferable college credits.

That means a Westgate diploma in one hand and an Associate Degree in the other, tuition-free.

Small school, big head start.

Our recent blood drive brought in 26 donors (15 first-time donors — welcome to the lifesaving club!) for a total of 30 units collected: 20 whole blood, 4 double red cell, and 1 plasma donation.

That could potentially save 72 lives. 👏

Meet Kelly Ann Scott — Westgate's Director of Gifted Education. 🎓

At a time when many schools are cutting back on gifted programming, Westgate is doing the opposite: building dedicated leadership entirely around serving gifted learners.

Kelly brings serious depth to the role — a Master's in Gifted and Talented Special Education, a Doctorate in progress at UNC, and years of experience as a Gifted and Talented Facilitator, Coordinator, and Charter Liaison across Colorado. She's also been recognized statewide and nationally for her work in gifted identification and equity in gifted education.

Her focus: making sure gifted education is both rigorous and inclusive — especially for students who've been historically underrepresented in gifted programs.

Grateful to have her leading this work at Westgate.
