Yesterday, while returning to the station, our crews spotted a young boy and his grandmother at Summit Grove Park and noticed their basketball was stuck in the net. The crew stopped to help.

After getting the ball in play, there may have been time for a few quick shots and friendly play before heading back to the station.

BTW- no ladder needed.

In May, TFD conducted vehicle extrication and stabilization training. With the support and partnership of U-Pull-&-Pay Denver, crews sharpened skills and tactics to operate safely and effectively on incidents requiring extrication.

🚬 No butts about it! 🚬
Pick up a free pocket ashtray at Thorntonfest this Saturday and help keep cigarette butts off our streets, trails, and open spaces. Properly disposing of smoking materials helps reduce litter and can prevent roadside and vegetation fires.

Grab one while supplies last and help keep Thornton clean and safe!

Our most sincere condolences go out to North Metro Fire Rescue District and the family, friends, and colleagues of Lt. Tellinger during this incredibly difficult time.

We offer our support to our brothers and sisters at North Metro as they honor his life, service, and dedication to the fire service community and to his family.

It is with great sadness that North Metro Fire Rescue District announces the off-duty death of Lieutenant Chad Tellinger due to illness. Chad was hired by North Metro in 1998 and proudly served the community and organization for more than 27 years. He was 52 years old.

Chad was a highly respected firefighter, mentor, IAFF Local 2203 leader, and beloved family man whose loss is deeply felt across the North Metro family. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sisters, and his mother.

The District is working closely with Chad’s family to coordinate services and support. With the family’s permission, additional information will be shared in the coming days.

Firefighter. EMT. Paramedic. One team.

Thornton firefighters don’t just fight fires, they are also highly trained EMTs and paramedics providing advanced medical care every single day. From the fire engine to the medic unit, our crews are ready to respond to whatever emergency comes next.

During EMS Week, we recognize the dedication, compassion, and skill it takes to serve our community both on the fireground and at the patient’s side.
