Our training on Elk Heights road has concluded. Approximately 60 firefighters participated from multiple agencies for today’s mock wildfire. Lessons were learned, training was had and we are all more prepared to help the citizens of Kittitas County. For Fire District 1, we had Chief 11, Support 100, Battalion 11, Brush 111, Brush 112, Brush 121, Brush 131, Engine 131, Tender 111, Tender 121 and Rescue 111 with 23 of your fd1 firefighters.

Today is the day. Please avoid elk heights rd.

Kittitas County Fire District 1 will be hosting an interagency mock wildfire training this Saturday, May 30th, on Elk Heights Rd from 10am-2pm. There will be no actual fire involved, it will be a flag fire. You will see increased fire department vehicles in the area leading up to and day of the event. FD1, FD3, FD6, FD7, CEFD, RFD, KVFR, Forest Service, DNR, CEPD, KCSO, Kittcom and CWICC will all be participating in this simulated wildfire. You’ll see brush trucks, engines, tenders, hand crews, a dozer, and additional support vehicles in the area. Please avoid the area to allow room for fire vehicles and personnel on the 30th. We will post pictures after we are done. Please no drones as we will likely have a drone in the air.

A heads up, we have the potential Thursday afternoon and evening, May 28th, to see some severe thunderstorms. The main threats are frequent cloud to ground lightning, high winds and possible hail. Please be aware of the quickly changing weather as it is supposed to be nice and warm for the first part of the day.

Kittitas County Fire District 1 will be hosting an interagency mock wildfire training this Saturday, May 30th, on Elk Heights Rd from 10am-2pm. Reminder our Fire Danger is High. In FD1 that means no pile burning per your permits. Even with the predicted rain, it will dry out again fast so please do not light off your piles.

Just after 7pm last night, your FD1 firefighters were toned to a brush fire in the area of SR 97 and Notcho Ln. 8-10 ft flames off the sagebrush was observed by the first arriving apparatus. The fire was held to .25 acres with help from KVFR. We initially had FD7 and DNR responding but were able to cancel them. For FD1, Chief 11, Battalion 11, Brush 121, Brush 131, Tender 111 and Tender 121 responded.
