We would like to introduce you to our newest addition. This 2012 International Water Tender will replace our 2007 Kenworth Water Tender. While the years aren’t a huge upgrade, this newer truck is 6 wheel drive, carries 4000 gallons of water and has multiple sprayers vs the 2600 gallons our Kenworth carried and no sprayers. The mild off-road capabilities of this newer truck and bigger capacity will make a big difference in our response. It’ll take some time to make it into a fire truck and we will be selling the Kenworth once it’s through the surplus process. We would like to take a second to recognize a $50,000 donation from two citizens in our District, Loren and Dalyce McFarland. This generous donation combined with the sale of our current truck will make this upgrade a wash financially, little to no cost to our district taxpayers. We are very, very grateful.

Your Kittitas County crews were put right to work last night protecting structures on the Colwash Fire. They worked through the night protecting many structures, doing some burning out and reinforcing lines. You can see the results of their and other crews’ actions in the last few pics.

⚡️ On Friday there is a risk of scattered high based thunderstorms that would pose the risk of producing lightning, while producing little rain. This risk will develop later in the day on Friday, but there could be a couple storms that pop up in the afternoon. This risk will likely persist overnight into Saturday for some of the area. On late Friday night and early Saturday morning, it is looking increasingly likely that there will be some thunderstorm risk west of the Cascades as well. This, of course, will present the possibility of more fire starts. East of the Cascades, windier conditions will develop on Saturday afternoon shortly after the thunderstorm activity. Help spread the word and stay tuned. 11:42AM 08-19-26
