FLASHBACK: SEEAG - Students for Eco Education and Agriculture (2024) 🚜👩🏾‍🌾

Many Mansions saw a farm, E-I-E-I-O! With help from the West Ventura County Business Alliance, Camp Many Mansions had the amazing opportunity to visit SEEAG, an educational farm where students can be introduced to agricultural principles and practices. Our kids had the chance to harvest herbs and edible flowers at different stages, which they then got to use to make HOT SAUCE (which their families then got to eat that night!). They also used their senses to explore soil and earth, and completed a farm-themed scavenger hunt. There were even healthy snacks provided: farm-fresh oranges! 🍊

FLASHBACK: Underwood Family Farms (field trip, 2025)

Our campers got their hands dirty last year at Ventura County's own Underwood Family Farms. There was hay, there were wagons, and there were a whole lot of delicious veggies picked and washed by Camp Many Mansions' very own Farm Brigade! Not only did the kids get to learn about agriculture and food preparation, but their families got to sit down that night and enjoy fresh vegetables harvested with love. Why're we smiling? Because Many Mansions teens toured MWS Wire Industries in Oxnard for career exploration!

Our teens got an inside scope of what goes on at MWS - different career roles, laboratory testing, and company culture. One teen stated, "I would work here," after being wowed by wire production. Like dozens of other career exploration trips that Youth Programs provides for teens, a new generation at Many Mansions got to see a whole new possibility for their futures. Who knew wires could be so cool?!

“We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.”

Many Mansions is commemorating Memorial Day with a community event at Ormond, where at least one member of every household is a veteran. A color guard will be present to lower the flag, attendees will be invited to join activities like California Poppy planting and crafts, and a meal will be served by representatives from Port of Hueneme. This event is sponsored by the Port of Hueneme, Oxnard Harbor District, and we are so grateful to them for their support and generosity. We are also grateful to those who have fought for our safety and our future, and thank them for their service.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go!

On Wednesday May 13, Many Mansions broke ground on Homekey Lewis Road, a new affordable housing community located outside of Camarillo in West Ventura County. The occasion was marked by words from Ventura County Supervisor Vianey Lopez and Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, County of Ventura - Government Behavioral Health Director Dr. Loretta Denering, DignityMoves founder and CEO Elizabeth Funk, and our own CEO Rick Schroeder - and afterwards, those golden shovels went to work! Thank you to everyone who was there to celebrate this milestone, and to all our partners and advocates who made this possible.

Many Mansions is committed to scaling our impact across Southern California, with two new communities recently opened in West Ventura County (Rancho Sierra - a Camarillo neighbor to Homekey!) and Los Angeles (La Guadalupe) and another five projects churning along. For 45 years, we have worked tirelessly to provide affordable housing and comprehensive, on-site, no-charge services to low-income families and households in our community - and we're blazing right ahead into the next 45.

FLASHBACK: California Science Center (field trip, 2025) 🌿🔭⚗🏀

Last summer our campers spent an amazing day at the California Science Center. They engaged in interactive STEAM-powered learning, exploring strange new worlds like the ocean while discovering new perspectives on familiar worlds like the basketball court and soccer field. We also got complimentary access to the grand opening of the Games Exhibit, which was a huge crowdpleaser. With your support, it can be another amazing summer!
