📅 FALL GRIEF SUPPORT CALENDAR 📅

Our first-ever anticipatory-grief support group launches this month for caregivers or family members supporting a loved one through a progressive or terminal illness.

All Hospice of the Conejo support groups are free to attend. Pre-registration is required; please call (805) 495-2145 so we can connect you with the group facilitator prior to attending. We are unable to accommodate walk-ins.

The community votes and bids on the trees (Nov. 23–Dec. 4)—with top vote-getters winning special awards and recognition! 🏆

Stitching comfort, one square at a time. 🧶✨

Meet the wonderful members of our HOC Crochet Club! Twice a month, this dedicated group gathers in our grief counseling room with yarn, needles, and a whole lot of heart.

Together, they craft handmade lap blankets to comfort our hospice patients, support local causes, and raise vital funds during our annual Festival of Trees at The Oaks mall. Just as importantly, these meetups offer a space for longtime volunteers and supporters to connect, share stories and uplift one another.

We are endlessly grateful for the warmth and compassion they weave into our community!

A huge thank-you to Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks for its unwavering support of Hospice of the Conejo. Last week, the club handed out checks to over 50 area nonprofits -- and we were fortunate enough to be among them.

Since our founding in 1977, T.O. Rotary has gifted Hospice over $100,000. Quite literally, we wouldn't be here today without the support of local Rotarians.

They do not limit themselves to one community or demographic. They exploit people at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.”

For nearly 50 years, Hospice of the Conejo has prepared community members for the deeply rewarding journey of providing love, comfort and support to individuals facing terminal or life-limiting illnesses. Our annual New Volunteer Training is a comprehensive, two-month program designed to give you the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to support individuals and families navigating life’s final chapter.

Training involves eight weekly, three-hour sessions (1 to 4 p.m.) beginning Sept. 10. Attendance at all sessions is required.

Since 1977, Hospice of the Conejo has been dedicated to serving as a community-based non-profit, non-medical volunteer hospice and grief support center. All services are completely free of charge.

🚨ANNIVERSARY ALERT 🚨

We want to take a moment to congratulate Susie C. on 20 years with Hospice of the Conejo. "Office Manager" does not begin to encompass the countless ways she helps our small-but-mighty nonprofit thrive.

Susie's kind voice is the first a person hears when reaching out for hospice or grief support, and her warm face is the first they see when walking through our doors. She is best known for her relentlessly positive attitude, welcoming every guest with an enthusiastic, "Happy [Insert Day of the Week]!" Despite juggling countless duties, she always prioritizes those who reach out seeking help, treating each with love and respect.

Regularly buried in a mountain of voice messages, emails, invoices, time cards, supply orders and acknowledgement letters, she somehow always make time for a colleague or community member with a special request—and does so with a smile.

She supports our yearly outside audit, plays a key role in all fundraisers, and manages the Lending Closet, which includes making frequent trips to storage in her beloved blue Prius to retrieve wheelchairs, walkers and other essential medical equipment for individuals in need. Susie also established a beloved annual tradition: celebrating our volunteers by serving them pancit, a traditional Filipino noodle dish that she spends weeks preparing.

When she’s not helping Hospice, she’s spending time with her best friend and husband of 34 years, Wil, hiking, jogging, adventuring, taking in a concert, and lately, playing pickleball. She loves sharing photos of her two beautiful grandchildren.
