🚓⚡ E-Dirt Bike Reminder: Ride Smart, Ride Safe! ⚡🚓

The Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Community Resource Unit, Direct Enforcement Unit, Motor Deputies, and Traffic Unit are continuing proactive enforcement focused on traffic safety and the illegal use of e-dirt bikes on public roads.

Working with our community partners, recent enforcement has found several concerning trends, including:
🏍️ Juvenile riders operating illegal e-dirt bikes
🪖 Riding without proper safety gear
🚦 Performing dangerous stunts in active traffic
💨 Traveling at excessive speeds
🌳 Damaging local park facilities

While e-dirt bikes can be fun, public streets and parks are not the place for illegal or unsafe riding.

Our enforcement efforts will continue to ensure everyone in our community — drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and riders — can travel safely.

✅ Ride legally
✅ Wear proper safety gear
✅ Respect our parks and roadways

Let’s work together to keep Thousand Oaks safe for everyone! 🙌

Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services is inviting the public to review and comment on the updated Ventura County Operational Area Emergency Operations Plan from March 3 through April 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to take part in a virtual Town Hall on March 18, 2026, at 6:30 PM. Staff will highlight what has changed in the plan, explain why it matters, and outline how to submit comments. The meeting will also include a preview of the County’s upcoming Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

The Emergency Operations Plan serves as the County’s playbook for preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters. It defines roles and responsibilities, supports coordination across jurisdictions, and outlines how the Emergency Operations Center is activated during incidents.
To review the draft plan, register for the Town Hall, or submit comments, visit:
https://ready.venturacounty.gov/eop-update-2026/

Individuals who require language translation or other accommodations to participate in the Town Hall may request assistance during online registration, by calling 805 437 4205, or by emailing [email protected]. Requests should be submitted by noon on March 13, 2026, to allow time for coordination.

Join us in congratulating 🎉 Sheriff Records Specialist II Anna Margott on her retirement after 20 incredible years of dedicated service to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office!

Many of you recognize her smiling face from our station Front Desk lobby, where she spent the majority of her career serving our community. Anna has been a wealth of knowledge, a trusted mentor to countless volunteer staff members, and someone who always went the extra mile — whether helping a lobby visitor or supporting her fellow peers.

The good news? We won’t be without her for long! 👏 Anna will soon return as a volunteer member.

Congratulations, Anna, and thank you for 20 years of outstanding commitment to our community!

Congratulations to Deputy Jorge Gomez on being named the 2025 CIT Deputy of the Year for the City of Thousand Oaks! 👏

For the past 12 years, the Ventura County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program has recognized outstanding officers at its annual awards ceremony—hosted this year by the Ventura County Behavioral Health Advisory Board.

Since 2001, the program has delivered 64 CIT Academies, training more than 2,400 personnel in mental health awareness, de-escalation, and crisis response. Managed by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and supported by law enforcement agencies throughout Ventura County, the CIT program continues to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and behavioral health professionals.

Congratulations to Deputy Gomez and all those recognized for their dedication, compassion, and service to our community!

Another day, another round of wet roads!

Since the sunshine is still on vacation, here’s your friendly rainy-day reminder:

☔ Slow it down — slick roads = longer stops
💡 Headlights on (yes, even during the day!)
🚗 Leave extra space — tailgating + rain = paperwork
🌊 See standing water? Turn around, don’t drown
🚫 Cruise control is not your rainy-day friend

We’d much rather wave at you than write a crash report. Drive safe and let’s keep it splash-free today! 💙🚔

Collaboration in action 👏

Today, School Resource Officers from Thousand Oaks Police Department partnered with Camarillo Police Department and Ventura County Probation for a hands-on day of learning and teamwork.

From touring the Juvenile Justice Center to sharing ideas on prevention and intervention, the focus was clear: support our youth, strengthen partnerships, and work together to reduce future crime.

It takes a team — and we’re proud to stand alongside our partners to better serve our community. 💙🤝
