School is about to be back in session, Three Lakes! 🎒🚌

As our students head back to the classrooms, the Three Lakes Fire Department wants to make sure everyone has a safe, smooth, and exciting start to the school year. Whether your kids walk, ride their bikes, or catch the bus, keep these quick safety tips in mind:

Drivers:
Stay Alert

Slow Down:
Obey all posted school zone speed limits.

Stop for Buses:
Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm mean stop in both directions. Never pass a stopped school bus loading or unloading children.

Watch the Crosswalks:
Yield to pedestrians and keep your eyes off your phone—put away all distractions in school zones.

Students & Parents:
Travel Smart

Bus Stop Safety:
Stand at least three feet back from the curb while waiting. Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the driver signals before boarding.

Walking & Biking:
Always use sidewalks and cross at designated crosswalks. Cyclists should wear a properly fitted helmet and follow the rules of the road.

Plan the Route:
Walk the route to school with your kids ahead of time so they know the safest path and where to cross.

On behalf of everyone at the Three Lakes Fire Department, we wish all of our students, teachers, and school staff a fantastic, safe, and successful school year!

Stay safe, look out for one another, and have a great year! 🚒

As the day closes, we at the Three Lakes Fire Department would like to take a moment to recognize our members, as well as all the volunteer firefighters across Wisconsin and the nation.

You continuously answer the call to serve your communities through unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the firefighting profession. Day or night, rain or shine, you leave your homes, your dinners, and your warm beds to protect others when they need it most.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighter families. Behind every firefighter standing the watch is a family supporting them from home—stepping up during missed holidays, interrupted meals, and late-night alarms. Your strength, patience, and silent sacrifice make our service possible.

To our crew here at home, our incredible families, and every firefighter and family standing the watch across the country: thank you for your dedication and support. Stay safe out there. 🚒🏻‍🚒❤️🇺🇸

Flashback to 1958: The Beginning of a Three Lakes Tradition! 🚒

As the Three Lakes Fire Department looks back on 1958—the year of our very first Annual Fireman's Picnic—one thing has remained unchanged across the decades: the unbelievable support of our local community.

Since day one, the pride of "neighbors helping neighbors" has been the backbone of this department and this event.

While our community spirit has stayed solid as a rock, a few other things have changed just a bit since 1958! Ever wonder what life cost back when the picnic traditions first began?

Here’s a quick look at average prices in 1958:

Gallon of Gas: ~$0.25 – $0.30
Loaf of Bread: ~$0.19 – $0.20
New Automobile: ~$2,200 – $2,400
New Custom Fire Truck: ~$12,000 – $16,000 (Compared to $500k–$1M+ today!)

Times may change and prices certainly go up, but our commitment to protecting Three Lakes—and your incredible support of our department—remains priceless.

Thank you for standing with us since 1958. See you at the next picnic!

Now that we have wrapped up the 2026 Fireman’s Picnic, we are taking some time to look back at days gone by!

We are looking for anyone willing to dig through their old keepsakes and see if they have any official programs from past Three Lakes Fire Department Field Days or Annual Fireman's Picnics.

Specifically, we are searching for:
The 1960 Annual Picnic Program
The 1970 Annual Picnic Program
Any Field Day Programs

If you have any of these local treasures, we would love to have them—or at least take a few high-quality photos of them so we can return the originals safely to you!

Please send us a quick email and let us know if you can help: [email protected]

Ensuring our fire hose stays ready for service is vital to firefighter safety and successful suppression operations. Fire hoses are the literal arteries of the fire ground, delivering life-saving water under extreme pressures.

A huge thank you to FireCatt for assisting us with our annual hose testing today at Three Lakes Fire Department Station 1!

Annual Service Testing & Safety Standards

All attack lines and supply hoses undergo rigorous hydrostatic service testing in accordance with NFPA 1962 (Standard for the Care, Use, Inspection, Service Testing, and Replacement of Fire Hose, Couplings, Nozzles, and Fire Hose Appliances).

InspectNTrack

Attack Hose Requirements: Tested to a minimum service pressure of 300 psi held for 3 minutes to guarantee structural integrity and coupling security under severe fire ground conditions.

Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment
Supply Hose Requirements: Tested to a minimum service pressure of 200 psi held for 3 minutes.

Visual & Physical Inspection: Every foot of hose is inspected for jacket wear, liner delamination, coupling slippage, and damage before being returned to active apparatus status.

Thanks to regular maintenance and great partners like FireCatt, our equipment is prepped and ready to serve the Three Lakes community 24/7/365.
