Another fun Story Time down at the Depot Library today! 📚PreK & under enjoy the story Little Blue Truck’s Halloween by Alice Schertle. The children had to guess what each animal was dressed up for Halloween. The PreK group decorated paper pumpkins with stickers. 🎃

The K-2nd grade groups enjoyed the story Click, Clack, Boo! by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewis. Farmer Brown does not like Halloween, but the farm animals have a party in the barn in hopes he will change his mind. This group decorated different characters in Halloween costumes using stickers. 🎃🧙‍♀️💀👻🦇Each group enjoyed some Bats & Jacks pretzels as their snack.

We had a fantastic day down at The Depot Library! Our little group has grown so much we now have three sessions for Story Time. We had a total of 63 children attend. We started each session with some dog bone cookie treats. Our story today was Can I Be Your Dog? by Troy Cummings. Arfy is looking for a new home and sends letters to the houses and shops on Butternut Street asking if he can be their dog. I won’t spoil it but it does have a happy ending! Then the groups created their own Arfy. Thank you to Throckmorton Collegiate for supporting our library programs and everyone else who joined us today. It was so much fun!!📚❤️📚

We had a wonderful time on our Summer Reading Program field trip to the Whiteside Museum in Seymour today. 14 students from PreK -3rd grade completed the program and earned a ticket for the trip. They are: Scarlett & Ellie Balthrop, Rayley & Brooklyn Brown, Kennedy & Collins Clark, Clara Drury, Rowen & Tyler Foster, Heidi & Mila King, Landyn & Pierson Shaver, & Ruth McCartney. We enjoyed learning about the prehistoric animals and dinosaurs that lived in this area, as well as, the native animals living here today. We returned to The Depot Library for a Pizza Party Lunch. Thank you to Carolyn Redden for picking up our pizzas and having it ready for us when we returned. Each child then received their certificate of completion, along with some other prizes for being super readers this summer. We would like to thank Throckmorton Collegiate ISD for providing the van for the K-3rd graders to ride on and Cassidy Balthrop for being our driver. We would also like to thank Randi Clark for riding in the van with the students, as well as the moms and grandmothers for coming along to take the PreK students. It was such a great day of learning and celebrating our summer readers! 📚😊📚

If you didn’t get a chance to turn in your Summer Reading Record yesterday, today, July 30th, is the absolute last day. We are open from 10-2! 📚❤️📚

All reading records and AR points are due tomorrow, July 29th, for the summer reading program! Kindergarten and younger participants please turn in your reading records to the library during business hours tomorrow. 1st -6th grade participants need to have met their AR goal by the end of the day tomorrow. 📚😊📚
Everyone who meets their goal will earn a trip to the Whiteside Museum in Seymour!

Today was our last summer reading program. We learned about archeology and discussed the tools that archeologist use and the treasures they find. We read Sam and Dave Dig A Hole by Mac Barnett in the morning and then A-B-C Archeology by Janice ReShae in the afternoon. We didn’t get any pictures of the morning group but they used their skills to put together “treasure pieces” to make a fish. The afternoon group used their archeology skills and excavated candy from chocolate chip cookies. It was a fun day down at The Depot Library!
Don’t forget to keep working on your AR points and turn in your reading records by July 29th to go on our trip to the Whiteside Museum on August 6th. 📚
