The fight is not over. Once overt hate becomes unacceptable, it becomes insidious, but it remains and when the coast seems clear, it shows its face again. This is a symptom of a larger problem. While you have likely heard the news, here is a more thorough article than the casual sites on Trending are probably giving you and there are live updates on the main site.

I must clarify, not to detract from this tragedy at all, that this is not the most people killed in a mass shooting in U.S. history. That would be at Wounded Knee (hundreds killed).

Praising ISIS, the gunman, identified as Omar Mateen, opened fire in what emerged as the worst mass shooting in United States history. The massacre early Sunday also left 53 wounded.

To whomever asked the anonymous question: Transgender people use whichever bathroom is for the gender they identify as, usually. However, some states now require that people use the bathroom that matches what their birth certificate is. This is despite no cases of trans people harassing. There has only been recorded violence TOWARDS the trans people, most often when they are in the bathroom of the gender they aren't (like a transwoman being forced to use the men's room by law has a high chance of her being attacked, while a transwoman in a women's room wouldn't harm the other women there at all). Non-binary people may use the bathroom they feel safest in, or prefer family bathrooms/waiting until they are home. There are politics surrounding gender-neutral bathrooms, but in general there is a push for more of them.
