Thurman Hometown Pride and Fire Department are looking for a donation of 6-8 pork butts for pulled pork sandwiches for Saturday’s Poker Run. The City of Thurman is now taking closed bids for mowing properties in Thurman deemed nuisance properties. This would be an as needed basis. Bids can be submitted to the city by mail: PO Box 186, Thurman, IA 51654, e-mail [email protected] or dropped off at City Hall. Clerk is in office most evenings from 5-7 or it can be put in the box by the front door. A certificate of liability is a requirement. Bids will be opened at the May 6th Council Meeting.

Attention Thurman Residents!!!

This Saturday April 25th is the city wide clean up. Dumpsters will be provided by Richardson Sanitation starting 6:00 AM up at the lot on the corner of Fletcher and North Streets. Dumpsters available until noon. This is for Thurman residents only. No dumpster diving will be allowed. No tires, no wet paint, no appliances, no TVs, no fuels, no pesticides, no oils, no explosives and nothing containing asbestos.

Saturday May 23 we will kick the day off for our Veterans memorial dedication and refreshments!!

Thurman Hometown Pride is preparing for the Memorial dedication ceremony. More to come on that. If you see that there is a name missing please e-mail [email protected] the group is compiling a list then will advise as that unfolds. Thurman Hometown Pride wants to ensure all our local vets are honored and remembered. If you previously submitted a name and it did not make it onto the wall the group would like to apologize for that clerical error. We would like to make it correct, so please do not hesitate to send an e-mail with your veterans name and time period they served.
