Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division is grateful to be included in the 5th Annual VFW Day of Service as members and families of VFW Seneca Post #2858 delivered lunches to first responders across Seneca County.

We truly appreciate the support, generosity, and continued commitment our local veterans show to this community. Their dedication to serving others continues long after their military service ends and does not go unnoticed.🎖️

Thank you for thinking of us and for everything you do for Tiffin and Seneca County. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. 🚒🚑

Last night at Tiffin Fire was an exciting one for sure.

It started with four promotions.

Lt. Jason Monschein was promoted to Captain.

FF/Medic Josh Majors, FF/Medic Bill Hoffert, and FF/Medic Nick Gosche were all promoted to lieutenant.

In the fire service, a promotion isn’t just about rank, it’s about earning responsibility through hard work and dedication. We’re proud of all these gentlemen for this accomplishment and are confident they’ll continue to lead from the front. 🚒🚑

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

**Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division Receives Grant to Expand Life-Saving Equipment Across Community**

April 29, 2026 TIFFIN, OH — The Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division is proud to announce it has been awarded a grant from the Tiffin Community Foundation to purchase 30 LifeVac anti-choking devices. These devices will be strategically distributed throughout the community to enhance emergency response and improve public safety.

The LifeVac devices will be placed on all fire and EMS apparatus, in every cruiser operated by the Tiffin Police Department, and at key locations within Tiffin Parks. This initiative ensures that life-saving equipment is readily accessible in critical moments when choking emergencies occur.

“This grant allows us to take another important step in protecting our residents,” said Deputy Fire Chief Mike Homan. “Having LifeVac devices available across multiple departments and public spaces significantly increases our ability to respond quickly and effectively in choking emergencies. We are extremely grateful to the Tiffin Community Foundation for their continued investment in the safety and well-being of our citizens.”

The Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division also extends its sincere appreciation to the Tiffin Police Department and Tiffin Parks for their collaboration and commitment to implementing this initiative. Their willingness to partner in this effort reflects a shared dedication to safeguarding the citizens of Tiffin.
This project represents a unified approach to public safety, ensuring that critical, life-saving tools are available when and where they are needed most.

Yesterday, Crew 2️⃣ had the opportunity to spend time at Noble School supporting the “Handle With Care” program. It is a great reminder of how meaningful these connections can be.

Our crew joined Tiffin PD, Seneca County Sheriff Fred Stevens and most importantly students during recess, building relationships, sharing smiles, and simply being present. Moments like these help create a sense of comfort and trust for kids who may need it most.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Dusty, the school’s therapy dog, who would fit in perfectly with our big red trucks 🐾

Thank you to Noble School for welcoming us! We’re proud to be part of a community that looks out for one another, especially our youngest members! 🚒

⚠️Road Closure⚠️

*** ROAD CLOSURE ***

The Tiffin Columbian High School has experienced significant storm-related damage this afternoon after a large section of the building’s roof membrane was blown off during high winds. Gusts likely exceeding 60 mph scattered debris into the street in front of the school. There are no reported injuries. According to the National Weather Service, strong winds with gusts between 44–60 mph may continue through the night.

For public safety, South Monroe Street will be closed at Charlotte Street for the remainder of the night. We ask motorists to avoid the area and observe the road closure, and we urge pedestrians to use caution when walking near the school due to potential debris.
Residents are encouraged to remain indoors until the storm system passes and to secure any outdoor items that could become airborne in high winds.

The Tiffin Police Department will continue to monitor conditions and assist with safety measures as needed. Again, please avoid the area and allow crews to work safely. If you encounter downed debris or hazardous conditions, contact police dispatch at 419-447-2323.
