👫 The Opportunity Center’s Afterhours’ group had an amazing week exploring many locations in Findlay and Fostoria.

They enjoyed a delicious meal at Red Lobster, checked out the Riverside park, jumped around at SOAR, feasted at the Sportsmen, watched trains at the Iron Triangle, and even stopped by the Fostoria Ohio Model Railroad Club. Everyone had a terrific week! 🎉

🎉 Last night the Seneca Arrows Special Olympics Ohio sports teams celebrated the end of the season with food, fun & friends.

They enjoyed a delicious dinner and an awards ceremony hosted
at the Opportunity Center. Everyone enjoyed celebrating all their accomplishments from Basketball, Pep Squad/Band, Track, Bocce Ball, Volleyball and Bowling this season.

Thank you to everyone for all their hard work and making it a huge success. Keep up the great work Arrows! 💛🖤

We had the honor of welcoming Jillian Shaferly, the Executive Director of the Tiffin YMCA, as our guest speaker. She shared wonderful insights about the YMCA's programs and initiatives:
🤝 Special Olympics members enjoy FREE passes at the YMCA!
🎒The Backpack Program provides essential items and meals for children in need — a cause our SCOC Aktion Club proudly supported through donation.
💧 Safety Around Water teaches kids vital water safety skills, giving them confidence and lifesaving knowledge.
🏫 YMCA also offers daycare, gymnastics, a workout area, and an inviting pool for community members to enjoy.
Jillian answered questions from our members, inspiring us with the YMCA’s dedication to community and youth development.

As swim season is upon us, it's always important to remain safe. These tips do just that, and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities also created a communication board for safe swimming.

Looking at accommodations at theme parks or attractions? The IBCCES Accessibility Card was created to help streamline the accommodations request process at theme parks and attractions for any accommodation needs. Examples include waiting in line or assistance with accessible rides, and more! This card is FREE for individuals who need these accommodations. Visit https://www.accessibilitycard.org/ for more information and to complete the online application before going to the attraction!

IBCCES created the Accessibility Card (IAC) as a free resource for individuals who need to request accommodations or assistance at amusement parks and attractions.

Yesterday, new Seneca STIR leader, Nedra attended the "My Life. My Story. -The Next Chapter Workshop". The Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council along with Dr. Becca Monteleone facilitated this workshop. In the "My Life. My Story. Training", participants will learn how to tell their own stories, with creative tools & exercises, helping them to share what is important to them. Every "My Life. My Story. Training" concludes with participants showcasing their stories through a performance. Nedra learned how to lead this training with activities and techniques to help participants discover, shape, and confidently share their personal stories. We are excited to see Nedra help lead a "My Life. My Story. Training" here in Seneca County! Way to go Nedra!

Join us for Northwest Ohio OSDA Tiffin Training on June 30th, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Osceola Theater, Gillmor Student Center, Tiffin University.

Session 1 will be Next Level Leaders from Richland County presenting "Click with Confidence," an interactive digital safety lesson for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Session 2 will be Haley Melcher, the Director of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio, who connects law enforcement and communities to support athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Community class enjoyed their end-of-school-year celebration! There were lots of laughs and talk about all the fun and exciting things everyone was going to do over the summer.
