Wait…did we mention COACHES? 😂
Next week things really start moving around Tift County Parks & Recreation with coach drafts, practices, team organization, and a whole lot of preparation for what is going to be an incredibly busy September and October.
We have well over 500 athletes and adults participating this fall in Volleyball, Tackle Football, Girls Flag Football, Coed Flag Football, Cheer and Soccer! That means a lot of schedules, a lot of fields, a lot of communication…and probably a little more coffee. ☕😂
We are very thankful that we have been blessed with head coaches, but we still need assistant coaches. You don't have to run the whole team. Sometimes the biggest help is simply having another dependable adult willing to step onto the field, help with drills, encourage kids and support the head coach.
We want to make this our best fall season yet, and we need your help to do it!
📱 Parents: We have been sending program information by text to the phone number provided during registration. Please keep an eye on your messages as we move into practices and team assignments.

It’s busy. It’s a little crazy. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Soccer Evaluations for 7-8 and 9-10 are TONIGHT here at the Rec Gym due to the high heat index! All parents that hold the Otto App account were called/voicemails left! See y'all tonight at the gym!

We have something BIG to celebrate — more than 450 young athletes are registered for Tift County Recreation Fall Sports! We are SO EXCITED about the participation and can't wait to see these young athletes learning, growing, competing, and having fun!

And we're not finished! Flag Football registration is still open, so help us spread the word and let's keep that number growing!

But with 450+ athletes comes another important need — COACHES!

👉 We still need volunteer coaches and helpers at ALL LEVELS of our Fall Sports programs, especially in our younger age groups.

You don't have to be an expert. You don't have to know every drill or have years of coaching experience. We need positive adults who are willing to learn, encourage kids, teach fundamentals, and give some of their time to make a difference.

Our recreation programs work because people in our community are willing to volunteer. More athletes mean more opportunities — but it also means we need more people willing to step forward. Could that be you?

Here's what's coming up:

🏈 Football — Coaches meetings begin 8/20 and 8/24 players will begin practice on 8/25
⚽ Soccer — Evaluations begin 8/20
🏐 Volleyball — Evaluations begin next week!
📣 Cheer - Begins August 27th

📍 We’re LIVE at the Home of the Stallions — ABAC! 🐎

Dondi Copeland, our Program Manager, and I are excited to represent Tift County Recreation today at ABAC’s Town & Gown event!

Town & Gown is a great opportunity to welcome ABAC students into our community, introduce them to what Tift County has to offer, and connect them with opportunities to get involved, volunteer, and potentially find employment right here with Tift County Recreation.

We’re always looking for energetic college students who want to make a difference — whether that’s coaching, officiating, helping with special events, working with our athletic programs, or simply volunteering their time to serve others.

We’re excited to meet some of the Stallions today and hopefully welcome a few of them into the Tift County Recreation family!

Monday August 17 and Tuesday August 18th Open Gyms are postponed due to ABAC Basketball Team's Special Practice.

Saturdays Cheer Exhibition was a great success! Thank you to Jennifer Brazil and the Middle School Cheerleaders for helping lead the event; KRYSTALS for donating lunches for our sweet participants, and Allyson Sumner, our new Cheer Coordinator, for putting on a great event!

We are excited to get our official cheer season started!

If you want to register your child for Fall Sports you still have a chance!!!!! Scholarships are no longer available; but there’s still a chance to download The Otto App, register and pay the $50 fee online!
