It has been brought to my attention that the Tift County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for posting Arrest Booking reports on social Media. This could not be furtherist from the truth.
This Tift County Crime organization is the ones responsible for the postings. They have absolutely no affiliation with the Sheriff’s office. However, Arrest Booking reports are public record. Which means that anyone can file an open records request for that information.This is what the Tift County Crime group does statewide. Whenever, an open records request for Arrest Booking reports are filed with my public information officer, he is bound by law to provide that information.
I hope that this information will clear up any misconceptions regarding this issue.

Our thoughts and prayers for the two Tifton PD officers, and their families, who were shot this morning while on a call. A huge thank you to all the agencies that showed up to help in any way possible to get the suspect shooter arrested and incarcerated without further injury.

ATTENTION:
Another member of a very hard working family, of Tift County, has fallen victim of the "we have a warrant for your arrest" telephone cam ,claming to be from a deputy of the Tift County Sheriff's Office.
This time to the tune of roughly $30,000.00
The caller tells you to stay on the phone and if you hang up you will be arrested and taken to the Tift County jail. During the converation, you are directed to go to your bank and withdraw a certain amount of cash. Then you are directed to go to location that has a Bitcoin machine and deposit the cash into that machine.
Then, you are advised that there are additional charges and the caller orders you to return to the bank and withdraw additional funds and repeat the process, going to another location where a Bitcoin machine is located. In yesterday's incident , the victim deposited funds in three different Bitcoin machines.
PLEASE know, that the Tift County Jail is under my command here at the Tift County Sheriff's Office. I can promise you that if anyone receives any such calls ,and are told that if you hang up, that you "will be arrested", that you will NOT be arrested for hanging up on the caller.
These criminals are very convincing and will threaten you with being arrested, just to get you to follow their instructions.
It is very unlikely, if not imposssible,to get any of these ill gotten funds back, once the fund have been deposited into Bitcoin devices.
PLEASE ALERT ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIEND TO THIS SCAM, AS NOT EVERYONE USES SOCIAL MEDIA.
If anyone feels that they are being or have been scammed, please call 911 and file a report.
