Seven displaced after Aloha house fire
Shortly after 7:15 p.m. this evening, crews from TVF&R and Hillsboro Fire & Rescue responded to a house on fire in the area of Southwest 170th Avenue and Southwest Farmington Road in Washington County. Multiple callers reported flames and heavy smoke coming from the back of a home.
First-arriving crews reported a two-story home with heavy fire involvement on the first and second floors, with flames extending toward the rear of the structure. Command was established and firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack while truck companies vented the home and conducted a thorough search, confirming no one was inside. Due to fire conditions and extension into the attic, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene.
One area of concern included structural damage to the second floor, which crews identified as unsafe due to fire damage. The Technical Rescue Team deployed equipment to stabilize the floor and prevent collapse.
Fortunately, no residents or firefighters were injured.
Seven people were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced residents. The fire also prompted a temporary road closure in the area to allow crews to operate safely. The cause is under investigation.
Thank you Washington County Sheriff's Officee, Portland General and NW Natural for your assistance.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening, TVF&R crews responded to a serious single-vehicle crash on Butteville Ferry Road in Wilsonville after a car left the roadway and crashed into a creek alongside the road.

When firefighters arrived, they found the vehicle partially submerged and actively burning. One occupant had been able to self-extricate from the vehicle, while a second occupant remained trapped inside as the fire intensified.

Before emergency crews arrived, a bystander stopped to help and used a strap he was carrying to pull the trapped occupant from the burning vehicle, likely saving their life.

Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire and provided emergency medical care to both occupants. Both patients were transported to area hospitals, including one patient with serious injuries who required transport to a local trauma center.

TVF&R would like to recognize the quick actions and bravery of the bystander who intervened before first responders arrived.

At 11:08 a.m. a caller to 911 reported seeing fire coming from a neighbor’s home in the 22800 block of Weatherhill Road in West Linn. Descriptions of flames and heavy smoke caused the call to be upgraded to bring additional personnel and resources to the scene.
Firefighters found fire on the backside of the home and the deck that had extended to the interior. They worked quickly to knock down the exterior fire, and pulled a line to extinguish the fire inside. Crews stretched several hundred feet of hose line down the driveway to establish a water supply.
Six residents were not home at the time. Additionally, two dogs, one cat, one bunny, and one turtle were accounted for.
Fire investigators have found the probable cause to be spontaneous combustion from oil-soaked materials. Thanks to Clackamas Fire, Lake Oswego Fire Department, West Linn Police Department, West Linn Public Works, and AMR for assisting at the scene.

This week, we are celebrating Emergency Medical Services Week and acknowledging the huge advancements in how medical care is provided to those in need.

As call volume grows and resources stay finite, one of the biggest modern shifts is making sure the right response is sent without automatically dispatching the heaviest apparatus to every call.

In our service area, advancement with data analytics, dispatching, telehealth, and new personnel such as advanced practice community paramedics are already creating better health outcomes for patients.

We will continue to innovate in this field so we can deliver the fast, effective care our community deserves. To our EMS professionals, thank you for answering the call.

TVF&R crews responded to Mountainside High School this morning following reports of a fire in the school’s woodshop area.

The first arriving crews found black smoke coming from the building and upgraded the incident to a full commercial fire response.

Firefighters quickly located the main body of fire in the dust collection system connected to the woodshop and initiated an aggressive fire attack, extinguishing the fire before it could spread further into the school.

The initial investigation indicates that a belt from a sander may have broken and been pulled into the dust evacuation system, where the majority of the fire occurred. The investigation remains ongoing.

Students and staff had already begun evacuating when crews arrived, and the school was fully evacuated to the football field as a precaution.

Although the fire was contained quickly, smoke spread into a significant portion of the school, requiring extensive ventilation operations by firefighters.

Four students were treated on scene by AMR and released without transport or additional treatment required. One firefighter was later transported to a local hospital with a health condition likely caused by smoke inhalation.

Due to smoke and water damage, classes at Mountainside High School were canceled for the remainder of the day.
