The Caring Closet

The Caring Closet We serve students of the Tigard-Tualatin School District with the goal of keeping students in school. We accept new and gently used shoes for kids and teens.

Donate your new or gently used clothing, suitable for students in grades K-12. We also accept new and gently used sheets, towels and blankets. We only accept new socks, underwear, and hygiene products. Donations are accepted 7 days a week from 8am-5pm at our donation shed. Our shed is located in the parking lot of the Tigard Grange on Hwy 99 at 13770 SW Pacific Hwy. We are in a secure building, so

appointments are required to drop off items at the Caring Closet located on the campus of Templeton Elementary behind the Tigard Tualatin School District Training Center. Volunteers are always welcome! Do you work with a youth group that needs a service project? We can always use the help of individuals, families or groups for special projects, sorting and hanging items, or working with families.

Our donation shed is closed while volunteers are on vacation for Spring Break. Please hold onto your donations until March 29th. The shed reopens Sunday, March 29th at 8 am. Thank you for your patience.

We have started our spring appointments and are running low on several items.

We desperately need the following:

•Juniors wide leg jeans all sizes

•Boys hoodies size 5 and 14/16

•Boys shirts size 5 and 14/16

•Gently used tennis shoes for kids all sizes with no holes stains and a good sole on the bottom

• New like sandals and flip-flops for kids and teens

• Girls athletic shorts 5/6, 7/8, 10/12, 14/16

Please take these items to our donation shed. It is unlocked from 8 AM to 4:00 PM 7 days a week. 13770 SW Pacific Hwy, behind the Tigard Grange. 

Please remove all hangers and bag up the items. You can place them in the chute and they will make their way here to the closet. Thank you in advance for your help with this. We appreciate you.

Our donation shed had to close unexpectedly for a couple days, but it reopens tomorrow January 22.

Please Help:

We have served over 700 students and inventory is running low. We need your help to continue to serve our students. 

We are in great need of little girls size 5 and 6 long sleeve shirts. We are also looking for girls pants, preferably jeans sizes 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Amazing community members donated much needed size 10/12 and 14/16 boys long sleeve shirts. We are so grateful for that. We are still lacking in these sizes too, but our racks are empty of 5 and 6 girls jeans and long sleeve shirts.

Our donation shed is closed while our volunteer is on vacation until Nov 23rd. If you have any of these items we desperately need please contact the closet directly at 503-603-1576 for drop off.

Art Rutkin did a sock drive for the Caring Closet. We are so grateful for the hard work and time they put into this drive. We have served almost 700 students this fall, and handed out 2,100 pairs of socks. This donation is so helpful in restocking our inventory and letting us continue to serve the kids in our community.

We are about one week away from serving our students. We are looking forward to the new school year. We have been busy going through the wonderful donations from our amazing community. There are some items that our inventory is still low. If you can help us out with any items listed below, it would be greatly appreciated.

• Little girls jeans and leggings size 5 and 6
• Little boys jeans and sweats size 5, 6, and 7
• Little girls long sleeved shirts size 5 and 6
• Feminine products, pads preferred as they are the most popular.

Update: the donation shed has someone hauling it away. We do realize this drop off was not part of our donation community. The items were broken and soaked from the rain. Thank you for all the kind words.

Someone has unloaded couches at the clothing donation shed. Please spread the word that this is not OK. This puts a huge burden on the volunteers to figure out how to get rid of these items. Please, please, please do not deliver household items to the shed.
