On June 3, 2026, the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) received confirmation of a detection of New World screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. The best thing that livestock producers and animal owners can do to prevent infestation is to put eyes on their animals as often as possible, remain vigilant by implementing enhanced management practices to avoid creating wounds, and promptly report suspicious wounds.

Tomorrow is the day. If you have signed up for the ICS 300 and 400 in Tilden, We look foward to seeing, meeting and training with y'all. Please don't forget to bring a form of ID and PIV-I card if you have one. Also don't forget your computers, chargers and note taking devices. The McMullen EOC does usually remain cold in the building, so don't forget your jackets. We will have coffee, water and Ice. The training will start around 8:00 am.

Be advised that 18 miles south of Tilden on Martin ranch road, the roadway is completely washed out and not drivable. The road will be closed until further notice and no traffic will be allowed to travel on it.

Isolated to scattered strong to severe storms are possible tonight into Wednesday morning as numerous showers and storms move across South Texas. This is a friendly reminder of the class McMullen OEM is hosting next week. There is still time to register and be able to learn some really great information, to use in not only emergencies, disasters, but everyday management. I look forward to seeing yall there.
