⚠️ URGENT: Severe Weather Notice for the Village of Tilton ⚠️
Residents, please be advised that the National Weather Service has placed our area under a Moderate Risk (Level 4 of 5) for severe weather today, Wednesday, June 17.

We are tracking a "double-whammy" system expected to hit us in two distinct rounds—the first moving through late this morning, and a second, potentially more volatile round arriving mid-afternoon into the evening.

🌪️ The Threats:
High, Damaging Winds: Wind gusts could exceed 70 mph, which will likely take down tree limbs and power lines.

Tornadoes: The atmosphere is highly volatile, and strong, fast-moving tornadoes are a distinct possibility today.

Flash Flooding & Hail: Heavy rainfall could quickly cause localized flooding.

🚜 Public Works Response Strategy:
Our Public Works crews are prepared and on standby. In the immediate aftermath of a severe hit, our primary focus will be clearing major debris off the roadways.

Please Note: Crews will initially focus strictly on pushing trees and debris out of the streets to ensure a clear path for emergency personnel (Ambulance, Fire, Police) to navigate the village safely. Comprehensive cleanup and branch pickup will follow once conditions are secure.

🛡️ How You Can Prepare Right Now:
Secure Loose Items:
Move patio furniture, trash cans, and outdoor toys into a garage or shed before the storm hits.

Stay Weather Aware:
Have multiple ways to receive warnings (a NOAA weather radio, cell phone alerts, or local news). Do not rely solely on outdoor sirens if you are indoors.

Review Your Shelter Plan:
If a Tornado Warning is issued, immediately move to the lowest level of your home (basement or storm shelter). If you don't have a basement, head to a small, windowless interior room on the lowest floor—like a bathroom, closet, or central hallway.

Charge Your Devices: Ensure your cell phones and backup battery packs are fully charged ahead of potential power outages.

Please check in on your neighbors, stay off the roads once the storms begin, and stay safe, Tilton!

Public Works Director

🚨 Storm Cleanup Update 🚨

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all of our emergency and village departments for their incredible coordination and hard work during tonight's storm.

When the severe weather hit, it was a true team effort to keep Tilton safe:

Our Police, Fire, and EMS personnel were on the front lines, responding to emergencies, managing hazards, and ensuring resident safety.

Our Public Works crews braved the elements during the worst of the storm, working alongside first responders to clear downed trees and branches from the travel lanes.

Thanks to these joint efforts, all major roads were successfully opened and kept passable for emergency vehicles and residents.

What’s next:

🌳 Cleanup Begins: Crews will be out first thing tomorrow morning to start removing the debris from the roadsides.

🚗 Drive Safely: Please use caution when driving around town tomorrow, as heavy equipment and workers will be near the roadways.

Thank you to all of our dedicated first responders and crew members who stepped up when our community needed them most, and thank you to our residents for your continued patience as we finish cleaning up our Village.

Stay safe,

T.J. George
