While Tinton Falls EMS-South primarily serves the residents of the southern portion of Tinton Falls, we work hand in hand with our sister squad, Tinton Falls EMS-North, to serve all the residents in Tinton Falls, regardless of location. We will assist them in answering calls in their portion of town while they do the same to help answer calls in the southern portion of town. In response to a lack

of volunteers during the daytime hours, a third squad was formed in 2006. This squad operates from 6AM-6PM seven days a week and is staffed by two paid EMTs. The three squads work in harmony with one another to serve the emergency medical needs of the residents and visitors of Tinton Falls.

Yesterday evening, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) of Tinton Falls EMS South were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Routes 36 and Hope Road.

Captain 36-2-50 alongside one of our members who quickly responded to the back-up call and arrived on scene. Once on location, the crew conducted a scene-size up and determined that an additional rig was required due to the number of patients.

36-2-51 and 36-2-54 responded to the urgent all-call and swiftly arrived on scene. The EMS Incident Commander directed the team to the patient who was already triaged and ready for transport to definitive medical care.

All patients were safely transported to the local hospital and trauma center for further treatment.

Great job by the arriving crew to triage patients, assess the need for additional resources, and maintaining scene safety.

Captain 36-2-50 had EMS Command.

***Recruitment***

Tinton Falls EMS South is looking for new members to join our volunteer family to help serve the residents and visitors of Tinton Falls! Like our town’s fire districts, we rely on our volunteers to service our community.

In conjunction with the volunteers of Tinton Falls EMS North, we work together to provide first aid care to those in need free of charge. Our membership is extremely dedicated, having run 900+ calls in 2022 and with the town continuing to grow, we expect to run more in 2023.

We are looking for candidates that are interested in helping serve our mission. EMT licenses are preferred, but not necessary as we will help assist those without licenses to completing all necessary trainings. This is an excellent way for those looking to give back to your community or those looking to step foot in becoming a first responder / healthcare professional!

Please message us if you have any questions!

Friends,

We recently mailed our annual fund drive letter, which included window decals and a return envelope (see below) to all residents of Tinton Falls. Unfortunately, the post office did not accept the return address and many of you had your envelopes sent back. This is the first year we've encountered this issue and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will be contacting all post offices in the area to ensure this does not happen again in the future. Our police department address: 556 Tinton Avenue, Tinton Falls NJ 07724 is a secure location to send mail to the PBA for the time being. Your generosity and support is much appreciated and we thank you for your patience with this matter.

In the midst of this heat wave, please read this great post with recommended actions to take care of yourselves.

WEATHER UPDATE

Oppressively hot and humid conditions will begin today across New Jersey. This heat wave is expected to continue through at least Sunday with highs well into the 90s for most of the area each day. Thursday and Sunday are expected to be the most oppressive days.

RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
📌Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
📌When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or the late evening.
📌Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
📌Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and be sure to drink plenty of water.
📌To reduce your risk during outdoor work the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in a shaded or air conditioned environment.
📌Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency...call 9-1-1 !!!
📌Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned environment, stay out of the sun and be sure to check on elderly relatives and neighbors. If you need a cooling center visit https://www.nj211.org/nj-cooling-centers or call NJ 2-1-1.
📌Pets are vulnerable to the heat too! Learn more about pet safety at www.animalemergency.nj.gov

***Quin’s Medical School Acceptance***

We would like to give a huge congratulations to Quin Buob, our 2nd lieutenant, on his acceptance and starting his medical school journey at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine!

Quin has been an active EMT with Tinton Falls EMS South since 2017 and has responded to over 1,500 calls in his time of service. He started his service while a student at Monmouth Regional High School and continued dedicating his time even while he was pursuing his undergraduate degree at Rutgers.

We are all so incredibly proud of Quin with him achieving this milestone. We have seen his growth through the years and know that he will be a great doctor one day in the future. Quin is extremely selfless, as he is always ready to jump on our ambulance to help our neighbors in their time of need. We would like to thank Quin and wish him the best in his next journey!

A few quotes regarding Quin’s impact:

Michele R. (EMT/Paramedic): One of the best partners in my career. Not only knowledgeable in our field and always ready to learn, he made every duty night fun!”

Adin S. (1st Lieutenant): “Quin always shows ready to help out his fellow neighbor regarding if it’s 6:00 PM or 3:00 AM. He will always volunteer his time to make and impact and I look forward to seeing all of his future successes!”

Kelsey B: (TF EMS North Sgt.): “Quin, where do I even start. I met him when he first joined TFEMS as an eager young cadet. I watched him become an EMT, graduate high school, excel in college, and most importantly become one of the best friends anyone could ask for. He's going to say this is too sappy and he doesn't deserve this but he totally does. Quin, we have quite literally been through thick and thin as friends and looking back I definitely couldn't have predicted our crazy friendship. You rock and will do great in medical school they're lucky to have you!”

TF EMS North: “Quin joined us as a ripe young cadet eager to learn about medicine and help his community. Throughout the years we have watched him evolve into a wonderful care giver and young man. It is our utmost privilege to wish him well as her starts medical school. You got this, Quin!”

A huge shoutout to one of our finest, Michele Lynch Risley!

He has a been a crucial member with the continued operations of our first aide squad and continues to help our mission of providing exceptional care as a volunteer EMS agency.

A great post by RWJBarnabas Health regarding the extreme cold weathers. Please make sure to dress in layers and limit your outdoor exposures! ❄️

This weekend, extremely cold weather and snow storms are hitting parts of NJ. Known as classic heart attack weather, more than 11,500 people (especially men) suffer a heart attack each year after shoveling snow. Here are some basic steps to reduce stress on your heart when shoveling:

• Wear protective, layered, and warm clothing – including a hat, gloves, and warm boots
• Stretch out your muscles before going out to shovel
• Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated
• Start slowly and increase your heart rate gradually
• Push the snow… Do not lift it
• Take frequent breaks and go inside to warm up

If you’re not feeling well after being outside and shoveling, seek immediate medical care.
