This past weekend K-9 Hunter and Cpl. Sapia competed in the USPCA regional K-9 trials against 37 teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. The competition consisted of obedience, agility, suspect/evidence search, and criminal apprehension. Hunter finished in 1st place overall with a final score of 686.50 out of 700 earning the award of “top dog.”

Happy 11th birthday to K9 Hunter! Since retiring in June Hunter is happily enjoying his retirement. During his career Hunter excelled at work, in the community where he was always a fan favorite, and on the competiton field.

Hunter was the man 🏆

After 10 years of service K9 Hunter officially retired yesterday. I couldn’t be more proud of his career and everything he accomplished. From (3) 1st place regional PD-1 titles, (1) 1st place national agility title, locating a missing Alzheimer’s patient in a creek saving his life, tracking down numerous criminals, and locating countless amount of narcotics he excelled every part of being a police dog. One of the most important aspects of his career was the role Hunter played in the community. We conducted hundreds of public demonstrations where Hunter was always a fan favorite, especially with the kids. This was always one of the most important parts of K9 in Tinton Falls. Our community is the best, and it was one of the most rewarding aspects of my career to interact and form the relationships we have.

Driving to work today alone wasn’t easy. Hunter will be missed, but he will enjoy living out retirement with my family and I. To everyone who has supported Hunter over the years thank you. I am forever grateful for the memories and accomplishments we made together. Our bond was special. He was hard wired and built to do his job. I know he loved every minute of it, just as much as I did.

Wednesday was K9 Hunters last demo as he is set to retire soon. Connecting with the community has always been one the most important and rewarding aspects of the Tinton Falls K9 Unit. Our children are priceless, and the smiles on their faces say it all. Borough of Tinton Falls Police Department

Congratulations, Chief DeLucia !

Yesterday the Boro of Tinton Falls welcomed its new police chief, Mike DeLucia. Chief DeLucia was sworn in by Mayor Vito Perillo with his family by his side.

Members of the community, town council, and PBA were in attendance to support this occasion. We look forward to working with Chief DeLucia and wish him well in his new role.
