Update #7 - Here you go... The one picture from today because it was a BUSY DAY!

This is how North Dakota is represented this week in Reno. Glad we got to see and interact with Mary Soucie, our state librarian!

Side note: we were told we are in the top 2 for most attendees by state here in Reno!

This group of North Dakota librarians are attending the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Convening in Reno, Nevada, this week! Topics covered include grant writing, library space and design, children's literacy, building strong community partnerships, and more

Update #6 - day 2 is just about to begin!

Update #5 - Day one of the convention is done. Today's sessions were "Winning Grants for Rural Libraries" and "Small Spaces, Big Possibilities". So much good information from both!

I've also included a few pictures from when I ventured out on a walk downtown tonight. It's REALLY windy here right now so I sort of felt like I was right at home!

I've arrived at the hotel and just wow...guess I get to be a little spoiled for several days! My Lyft driver gave me all the good places I can walk to from the hotel, and even mentioned a few walking paths and, ahem, shorter hiking trails!

We start bright and early tomorrow morning!

Update #2 - Landing in Reno!

Update #1 from your traveling library director...

I have arrived in Denver for my connecting flight, which boards in 22 minutes. So much excitement to come over the next several days!

Next stop, Nevada! (this will be my first time in the state!)

Happy last Saturday of August!

Today is my last day in the building for a while, as I fly out to Reno on Monday. I will be gone all of next week. Due to my absence, we're down to 2 part time library staff to hold down the fort. We needed to adjust our hours just a little for next week:

**Monday 8/31 - 11am to 7pm
Tuesday 9/01 - 9am to 7pm
Wednesday 9/02 - 9am to 7pm
Thursday 9/03 - 9am to 7pm
**Friday 9/04 - 11am to 7pm
Saturday 9/05 - 11am to 4pm

Basically Monday and Friday we will be opening at 11am instead of 9am! The Tioga Community Center will still be opening at 9am those days so just be aware that library staff will not arrive until 11am.

Looking forward, we are CLOSED on Monday, 9/07 for LABOR DAY as well, and have some adjustments coming due to Tioga Farm Festival 2026. Watch here for an update on that near the end of next week!

Come on in and visit Linda and Sydney while I'm gone...I'll try to get some pictures posted from the convention as well!
