Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. Their courage, selflessness, leadership and unwavering commitment to freedom does not go unnoticed. May we never forget their service and sacrifice.

Amvets Post 113 and Troop 82 collaborate again to put up the flags on Elm Street in Tionesta as well as replacing the flags on the veterans graves at the cemetery’s.

May 19th is primary day…..mark your calendars!

Pennsylvania’s primary election is coming up on Tuesday, May 19. Voters will have the opportunity to choose their party’s candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, U.S. House of Representatives, state House and Senate (in even-numbered senatorial districts), as well as state and local committee members.

This Monday, May 4, is the deadline to register to vote. You may register online here (https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx) or visit your county voter registration office. Not sure of your registration status? Tuesday, May 12, is the deadline to apply for mail-in or absentee ballots, which also may be done online or at your county elections office. Ballots must be completed and returned to your county election officials by 8 p.m. on May 19.

A U.S. Navy diver gently lifts the ashes of Raymond Haerry, one of the last survivors of the USS Arizona, for the final time, before returning him to the very waters he once fought to escape as a young sailor on that fateful morning of December 7, 1941. He survived the flames, the chaos, the unthinkable loss, but a part of him never left. It remained with the 1,177 brothers who perished beneath the harbor, their sacrifice etched forever into the soul of history. For decades, he carried their memory, honoring them not just in words, but in the quiet weight of survival. Now, his watch is over. After a lifetime of remembrance, Raymond Haerry returns, not as a survivor, but as one reunited. No longer bound by the past, he rests among his shipmates at last, where courage was forged and sacrifice made eternal. His journey has come full circle, ending where it began, among heroes.🕊️🇺🇸⚓

Post 113 will be participating in Winterfest in Tionesta located below Arrowhead Hardware Store on Sunday, February 15th from 12-5.

The post will be providing free hot dogs, coffee, and hot chocolate to the community.
