The Tipp City Library began in 1923 as a collection of 1,500 books on the second floor of the old City Building, staffed only by volunteers. It was originally funded by the Women’s Civic Club, and then by local taxes in 1926, becoming a City library. In

1950, the land at the library’s current location was donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, after which neighboring properties were purchased. The library was dedicated at its present location in 1962. A children’s room was added in 1982, and the building went through another renovation creating the adult fiction and teen areas in 1991 with the teen area completed in 1996. Currently, the library collection consists of over 59,500 books, 4,500 movies, and 2,500 books on CD, plus 66 periodical titles. The Tipp City Public Library has been truly lucky in their caring and community-minded staff. Past and present Librarians/Directors include: Ann Shaffer, Lulu Cottingham, Catherine Kessler, Florence Cook, Caroline Weaver, Nancy Stottman McAlpin, Pat Liening, Mark Mabelitini, Anthony Orsini, and, since 2016, Lisa Santucci.

The Legacy Shelf is a unique opportunity to celebrate your connection to the library while supporting its future. By purchasing a custom, hand-painted book spine, you can leave your mark in a meaningful and creative way.

Each piece is designed in collaboration with Library Director Lisa Santucci and hand-painted by Ohio artisan Stacy Slanker of Three Maries Lettering ensuring your book spine reflects your personality, memories, or the person you wish to honor.

Once completed, your custom book spine will be permanently displayed on the Legacy Shelf located at the library’s Main Street entrance—a visible and lasting tribute to your support.

Contributions are tax-deductible and directly support the Tipp City Public Library Endowment Fund, helping sustain and grow the programs and services our community relies on.

The Legacy Shelf is a perfect way to:

Honor a loved one
Celebrate a milestone or special occasion
Show your appreciation for the library
Invest in the future of our community

Book Spine Options:
Small: $75
Medium: $125
Large: $250

Be part of something lasting. Be part of our story.

Creativity is blooming in the Maker Space at the Children’s Area with our Loose Parts Challenge. Young creators are using imagination, problem-solving, and hands-on play to design unique creations from everyday materials.

This display also features inspiring work by Sawyer Knoth (7 years old), whose creativity helps showcase just how meaningful open-ended art and exploration can be. Stop by the library to see the creations, get inspired, and join the fun.
We love seeing our community create, experiment, and imagine together at the Tipp City Public Library.
