Attention Tipton County nonprofits!

United Way of Howard & Tipton Counties is hosting a grant information session tomorrow, May 27, at the Tipton County Foundation (1020 W. Jefferson St.) from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m.

United Way's 2026 Community Impact Grant cycle opens June 1 and supports local programs focused on health, education, and financial stability. Grants can be requested up to $20,000, with funding covering up to 60% of a program or project's total cost.

The Letter of Intent window runs June 1 through June 10, so tomorrow's session is a great chance to get your questions answered before the process opens.

It is time for our next Small Business Saturday Spotlight, and this month we are shining a light on a business that has been serving Indiana families through some of life's most meaningful moments: Caldwell Monument Company.

Downtown Tipton businesses, please mark your calendars for next week's public meeting to discuss the Jefferson Street Reconstruction project.

Important information will be shared about the project scope, timeline, etc. This is your chance to hear directly from the project team and ask any questions you might have.

A public information meeting for the Jefferson Street Reconstruction Project is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the CW Mount Community Center, 341 W. Jefferson St.

This is your chance to learn about and provide feedback on the planned improvements to the Jefferson Street corridor, which runs from the Buck Creek bridge east to Independence Street.

The project team will share details on proposed road and sidewalk improvements, drainage upgrades, new pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure, and plans for managing traffic during construction. There will also be time for open questions.

Public comments will be accepted through June 13, 2026.

Yesterday’s meet and greet was a great start, and it was genuinely good to put faces to names. If you stopped by, thank you for making the time.

If you missed it, the door is still open. One of the first priorities for Riley as the new Executive Director is hearing directly from Tipton County businesses about what is working, what is not, and what you need. That conversation does not have a deadline.
