Mayor Schmicker provides a Tuesday, August 18th update on cleanup efforts following the flooding.

The Tipton City Park cleanup is well underway. City staff have made progress clearing debris today. The park remains closed, and volunteer opportunities are still being finalized. More details on how to help will be shared soon.

A flood cleanup drop-off site is now set up at the former Steel Parts property, located at 801 Berryman Pike.

The site will be open Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Saturday, Aug. 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Saturday hours are included so residents who work during the week have time to bring items. If there is still a need after Saturday, the schedule may be extended into the following week.

The site will accept the following flood-damaged items:

General construction and household debris, such as flooring, carpeting and other water-damaged building materials.

Appliances and electronics damaged by flooding.

This site is for flood-related debris only.

As a reminder, if you experienced any flood-related damage, please report it by calling 211 or visiting in211.org and using the damage reporting button. Reporting damage is important for the city, county and state to document the impact and secure the resources needed to help with recovery.

Mayor Schmicker provides a Monday evening update on the city's cleanup efforts after the flooding.

The city park remains closed and is expected to stay closed for an extended period while crews clear debris and disinfect all equipment. The park is closed to everyone, including vehicles, pedestrians and bikes. Please respect the barricades and stay out of the area for your safety.

Our street department crews are actively cleaning up flood debris across the southern part of the city, including street sweeping on South Street and surrounding areas.

If you experienced any flood-related damage, please report it by calling 211 or visiting the link in the comments. Reporting damage is important for the city, county and state to document the impact and secure the resources needed to help with recovery.

We are also working to set up a cleanup site for residents with options for flood debris, yard waste, and damaged appliances or electronics. Details on the location and timing will be shared in the coming days.

Volunteer opportunities to help with park cleanup are also being organized. Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved!

As water levels continue to recede in the Cicero Creek and on area roads, please do not try to explore the flooded areas. Remaining water and debris can hide serious hazards, including contaminated water, sharp objects and displaced wildlife.

For example, this snake was found in the flower pot by the bridge!

Even after water recedes to safe levels, the Tipton City Park will stay closed until crews can fully assess and clear the area.

Several roadways also still have high water levels. Please continue to avoid these areas and use alternate routes where possible.

We’ll keep providing updates as conditions improve.
