Tipton Fire Department Announces Promotion of Assistant Chief
Tipton, Indiana — October 4, 2026
The Tipton Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Jacob Adams to the rank of Assistant Chief.
Assistant Chief Adams began his service with the Tipton Fire Department as a part-time firefighter, where he served for four years before being hired as a full-time firefighter in 2012. Since joining the department full-time, Adams has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to the department, its members, and the citizens of the Tipton community.
Throughout his career, Adams has taken on numerous leadership and service roles within the department. His experience includes serving as the department's Fire Prevention Coordinator, Training Lieutenant, Pension Board member, and Union Secretary/Treasurer. Most recently, Adams served the department in the rank of Captain on A-Shift, continuing to provide leadership both on emergency scenes and within the department.
His years of service and experience in various roles have provided Adams with a broad understanding of the department's operations, personnel, training, and commitment to the community. His promotion to Assistant Chief represents the continuation of that service and an increased responsibility to lead and support the members of the Tipton Fire Department. “Captain Adams has dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving this department and the Tipton community,” said Chief Jeffrey Ogden. “His experience in a variety of positions, his commitment to our members, and his willingness to take on leadership responsibilities have prepared him well for this position. We look forward to his continued leadership and growth as Assistant Chief of Tipton Fire Department.”
In his new role, Assistant Chief Adams will take on additional responsibilities involving day-to-day department operations, emergency response, and the continued development of the Tipton Fire Department. He will continue to serve as the duty officer on A-Shift.
The promotion also marks an important milestone in Adams' career, following more than a decade of full-time service and nearly two decades of service to the department when including his years as a part-time firefighter.
