This week, we recognize the voices behind the scenes—the calm in the chaos.

Our dispatchers are the ones answering every 911 call for service, serving as the anonymous safety net above us all. In the most critical moments, they gather life-saving information, coordinate resources, and keep help moving—no matter how chaotic things become.

They are the unseen first first-responders—steady, skilled, and essential to a well-run 911 system.

🚑 Expanding Life-Saving Care Beyond Our Community 🚑

At Tipton Ambulance Service, we take a proactive approach to caring for our community—and our neighbors. One of the behind-the-scenes programs we’re especially proud of is our EpiPen in Schools initiative.

A few years ago, we partnered with the Tipton Community School District to place EpiPens throughout their schools, helping ensure rapid response to severe allergic reactions when every second counts.

Today, we’re excited to share that this program has expanded to the West Branch Community School District! 🙌

Through collaboration with area School Resource Officers and local partners, we’ve been able to build the right connections and provide access to life-saving medications—even in areas outside of our primary service district. That means more students, staff, and visitors are protected with an added layer of safety.

This program goes beyond just placing equipment. Tipton EMS provides:
✔️ Medical protocols
✔️ Physician medical direction
✔️ Professional liability coverage

These partnerships and proactive efforts are what help make our communities safer places to live, learn, and grow.

🌟 Investing in Pediatric Safety: A Tool We’ve Trusted for Years 🌟

For years, our service has proudly invested in Handtevy—not just as a convenience for our crews, but as a critical part of how we deliver safe, effective care to children.

Pediatric emergencies can be some of the most stressful calls we respond to. Handtevy gives our providers immediate access to accurate medication dosing, equipment sizing, and treatment guidance—right when it matters most.

This means less guesswork, faster decisions, and a higher level of safety for our youngest patients.

We’re committed to giving our team the tools they need to perform at their best—and to ensuring every patient receives the highest level of care possible. 🚑

We’re excited to finally share that our newly remounted ambulance has officially been returned to service!

A huge thank you to McGrath Sirens Division for the outstanding work—they’ve been great to work with throughout this nearly 6-month process.

We also want to extend our appreciation to Paramount Ambulance Service for generously loaning us their white unmarked unit. Their support helped us continue serving our community without interruption, even during periods of unexpected maintenance.

To our community—thank you for your continued support. We are proud and honored to serve as your ambulance service every day.

🎆 Exciting News for Our Community! 🎆

We’re proud and excited to share that our team, in conjunction with the Tipton Fire Department, successfully applied for and received funding from the State of Iowa to support fireworks safety education in our community!

One of the exciting new educational tools we received through this grant is a large inflatable smokehouse. This hands-on resource will allow us to continue delivering high-quality, interactive safety education—especially for children—focused on fireworks safety and how to safely react if there is smoke in a home.

As part of this grant, we’ll also be providing fireworks safety education during the New Year and throughout next year, helping ensure families have the knowledge they need to celebrate safely.

We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for the continued partnership with the Tipton Fire Department. Please help us celebrate this exciting addition—we can’t wait to see you out in the community and put this new equipment to great use! 🚒🚑🔥

We are proud to announce that our Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Wing, M.D., has been selected as the Iowa EMS Association Medical Director of the Year.

Dr. Wing joined Tipton EMS about eight years ago and has worked tirelessly to strengthen our team, guide our growth, and push us to be the best we can be. He has been instrumental in implementing meaningful change and encouraging every member of our service to rise to new levels of excellence.

To our team, he’s simply Dan—but what he may not realize is the impact he has as a mentor and leader. His dedication, guidance, and steady support have shaped who we are today.

This recognition is truly well deserved.

🚑🌊 Today, EMTs and paramedics from Tipton Ambulance Service had the awesome opportunity to train alongside the dedicated lifeguards at the Aquatic Center! Together, we completed joint training exercises focused on responding to simulated drowning scenarios and other emergency medical conditions.

These hands-on experiences help us stay sharp and ready—because we’re committed to being the best, so we can provide the best care to our community.

🚑 Training to Serve, Always Ready to Respond 🚒

Last week, EMTs and paramedics from Tipton Ambulance Service, Tipton Fire Department First Responders, and Bennett Ambulance teamed up with SIM-IA, a state-of-the-art mobile simulation lab, for hands-on training in major trauma, airway emergencies, and neonatal resuscitation.

With support from the SIM-IA team and our physician medical director, our crews participated in realistic, high-stress simulations focused on major trauma, emergency airway management, and neonatal resuscitation. These scenarios are intense, hands-on experiences designed to sharpen our skills and decision-making. They represent the kinds of calls no one ever wants to face—but that we train for, so we’re ready when it counts.

We’re also always looking for new people to join our team. If you’ve ever thought about getting into EMS but felt unsure or nervous about the “scary stuff”—you’re not alone. Most of us felt that way too. But this is why we train. So we can step in with confidence when it matters most.

As we celebrate EMS Week, please know your EMS team is constantly working behind the scenes to be ready when you need us most.
