2:00 am update: a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southern Lake County. This does not include Tiptonville or Grays Camp at this time .

Weather update 6:15 pm: a line of storms is west of Tiptonville and moving west. However , if you look at the lower clouds , they are moving south. There is some rotation in these clouds but current track has storms moving away from us. It’s a Strange weather afternoon . We are watching it but there doesn’t appear to be any threat.

Update 7:30 pm: a strong storm is approaching tiptonville . There is no warning for us but there is a severe thunderstorm warning across the river.

Update 3:55 pm: severe thunderstorm warning has expired . Storms are still moving through the area with heavy rains and lightning. Be careful.

Update 3:15 pm: severe thunderstorm warning for Lake County. Please watch your weather for the next hour or two. Storms near the one coming our way have produced tornado warnings. Keep an eye on your weather.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

Attention Lake County Citizens: Please be advised that an inmate has escaped from the Lake County Jail.

Name: Ryan Benson
Height: 6’07”
Weight: 234 lbs.
Last Known Clothing Description: Black pants, black shirt, and a white hoodie.

The subject is considered armed and dangerous at this time. Direction of travel is currently unknown.

Residents are urged to remain alert and use caution. Do not approach or attempt to make contact with the individual. If you see Ryan Benson or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please call 911 immediately or contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

There will be an increased law enforcement presence throughout Lake County as agencies actively work to locate the individual and ensure public safety.
