We, along with Titusville Fire Department and other emergency crews are currently at the scene of an aircraft incident on Columbia Blvd (SR 405) between Sisson Road and S Washington Avenue. Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Columbia Boulevard are closed while emergency personnel address the incident.

Motorist are encouraged to find alternative routes.

Residents and businesses in the area of Sisson Road and Columbia Blvd should expect to have power outages due to that area of the grid being shut off by FPL.

Further updates will be sent out once they become available.

In observance of Labor Day, the Titusville Police Department Lobby will be closed on Monday, September 7th 2026.

This closure has no impact on patrol operations or emergency response services. Your officers and Public Safety Telecommunicators remain on duty and ready to serve with the continued priority of keeping the amazing City of Titusville safe for our residents, businesses, and visitors.

All regular Police Department functions will resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Titusville PD puts Temporary Pause to Flock Automated License Plate Reader Program

TPD is temporarily pausing its ALPR program through Flock following recent developments involving Flock license plate reader program and the Florida Department of Transportation’s decision to revoke existing permits for LPRs located within FDOT rights-of-way.

There are several Flock LPRs located within FDOT rights-of-way. This is not to be confused with the School Zone Speed Enforcement Program, which remains unaffected.

TPD’s ALPR program has been an invaluable investigative tool, providing leads that have resulted in arrests and successful prosecutions involving a variety of crimes, including homicides, thefts and other violent offenses. This technology has also assisted officers with locating missing people, recovering stolen property and removing numerous fi****ms from the streets.

In July, Interim Chief Wright ordered a review of TPD's current ALPR General Order and requested we compare with available best practices and guidance from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, FDLE, Congress and the American Civil Liberties Union. That policy revision is nearing completion. TPD has also been working on internal changes aimed at strengthening the program, particularly as it relates to privacy concerns, accountability and best practices. Flock has also made revisions and updates to its program that will be reviewed as part of this process.

During the pause, TPD will continue working to finalize its policy revision and the internal safeguards and operational changes which are already underway.

TPD plans to present the updated policy, internal changes and the changes implemented by Flock to the Titusville City Council. At that point, the department and City leadership can determine together whether the program should resume operations.

“This is a temporary operational pause that allows us to take a deeper look at the program, strengthen our policies and safeguards, and ensure that any future use of ALPR technology reflects both effective public safety practices and our responsibility to maintain the public’s trust,” said Interim Chief Tyler Wright.

Beyond the Headset: Celebrating 911 PST Shayna Price

Our 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators are often the calm voice behind the radio, guiding your officers, helping callers through their most difficult moments, and keeping our community and your first responders, both police and fire, connected. Today, we’re proud to recognize 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Shayna Price for an incredible accomplishment outside the communications center, as well as her recognition for being awarded the 911 PST of the 2nd Quarter of 2026.

In June 2026, Shayna completed an 80-mile paddleboard crossing from The Bahamas to Florida as part of an ultimate endurance event benefiting individuals living with cystic fibrosis.

The event brings together recreational paddlers who want to be part of an extraordinary experience and competitive athletes determined to push themselves to their limits. Completing an open-water crossing of this magnitude requires endurance, preparation, determination, and a whole lot of heart. Shayna demonstrated all of it.

At TPD, Shayne is an exceptional employee, a constant go-to member of our team, and a calming and dependable voice on the radio and phone. Whether she is helping coordinate resources during a critical incident or supporting those around her, she consistently demonstrates professionalism and dedication.

NATIONAL DOG DAY - WORKING DOGS & WAITING DOGS

Today we celebrate the four-legged friends who make our lives just a little bit better!

Here at TPD, we may be a little biased. Our police K9s are more than partners, they help protect our officers, locate those who need help, assist in investigations, keep our community safe, and, when the work is done, remind us that sometimes the best thing in life is a ball, a treat, and a good belly rub.

But National Dog Day is about all dogs, mixed breeds, purebreds, working dogs, service dogs, family pets, and those still waiting to find their furever homes.

That’s why today we also want to recognize the work of the SPCA of Brevard Adoption Center and the dogs in our community still waiting for someone to take them home.
