The Millage renewal helps fund behavior technicians in schools across Brevard Public Schools. This is not a new tax.
At Oak Park Elementary, behavior technician Mrs. Zink works directly with students to provide support, build positive relationships, and help them succeed in the classroom.
Behavior technicians provide individualized support that helps students develop self-regulation, social, and behavioral skills needed for success at school. By helping students stay focused, engaged, and connected to learning, behavior technicians contribute to positive classroom environments for all students.
Millage funding helps schools provide the support students need to reach their full potential.

Surtax funding strengthens school security by providing the physical security tools our campuses rely on each day. This is not a new tax.
At Oak Park Elementary, surtax funding supports security enhancements including secure single-point entry, upgraded locks and gates, reinforced front office safety features, expanded security camera coverage, and modern emergency alert systems.
The Sales Surtax renewal of the existing half-cent sales tax helps ensure schools can continue enhancing these protective measures and strengthening campus security to create an environment where students and staff can focus on learning and teaching

The Sales Surtax and Millage work together to support Brevard Public Schools. Neither are new taxes. Both are already in place.
Sales Surtax funding helps maintain secure, modern school facilities and technology infrastructure, while Millage funding supports the people and programs that make learning happen every day. Each funding source serves a distinct purpose, and the funds cannot be used interchangeably.
Here's what they funded and the impact they have had at Oak Park Elementary.

The Sales Surtax renewal is paid for by everyone who shops in Brevard and funds major improvements to our school facilities. This is not a new tax.

Sales Surtax funding allows Brevard Public Schools to complete essential projects that keep campuses safe, comfortable, and ready to serve students for years to come.

At Oak Park Elementary, Sales Surtax funding made a new HVAC system possible. The new system keeps the classrooms cool and comfortable

From updated air-conditioning systems and new roofs to renovated classrooms, playgrounds, tracks, and safety improvements, these investments help ensure our school buildings continue meeting the needs of students and staff.
