Welcome Toledo-Lucas County

Welcome Toledo-Lucas County The Welcome Toledo-Lucas County Initiative works to build a welcoming and inclusive community for immigrants, refugees, and people of diverse cultures.

Welcome TLC is a cross-sector network of government, community, and business leaders, including immigrants, refugees, and people of diverse cultures. We launched in 2014 with resolutions of support by both Lucas County and Toledo City Council. In 2019, Lucas County, through leadership of Welcome TLC, achieved national designation as a Certified Welcoming community, becoming only the second county

in the country and the second community in Ohio to receive the designation. Join the Welcome TLC newsletter to stay in the loop and learn how you can help Toledo-Lucas County build a welcoming and inclusive community for all. https://mailchi.mp/399adfe64035/welcometlc

This past Saturday service providers, advocates, and neighbors came together in community for the Northwest Ohio regional convening of immigrant serving and advocating organizations.

The event was kicked off by our facilitator, Dr. Kefa Otiso, who reminded the group that “The outcomes for immigrants depend largely on their receiving environment.”

We're grateful to the over 40 community leaders from across our region who came together to map local resources, and learn about each other's specialized services in order to build stronger collaboration networks.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to better support our immigrant neighbors!

🔹 Hosted by: Toledo Immigrant Alliance, Welcome Bowling Green and Welcome Toledo-Lucas County (TLC).

ICYMI: Last month, we celebrated the closing of Immigrant Heritage Month with a Cultural Cooking Series: A Taste of Vietnam! 🇻🇳

Our talented Chefs for the day were members of the Tran family. They shared the story of where their love of food began, and how that passion was passed down from their mother and grandmother. 👩‍🍳❤️

Grandma Tran originally shared her love of cooking by opening a small food truck. She parked it at the old Jeep plant during lunch hours, feeding those lucky enough to be there! 🚚⭐

Thank you to the Tran family for continuing this legacy, keeping the love of food alive, and sharing a piece of your heritage with us.

Many thanks as well to EatWell Cafe for the continued partnership on the Cultural Cooking Series.
