🚨 Heat Safety Reminder: Look Before You Lock 🚨
As temperatures rise, the inside of a parked car can heat up within minutes—even if the windows are cracked open. This can quickly become deadly.

☀️ Never leave children or pets in a vehicle — not even for a minute. Not even with the windows slightly open.
✅ Get in the habit of always checking the back seat before you lock your car—every trip, every day, year-round.
✅ Keep vehicles locked when parked, including trunks, to prevent children from climbing inside.
A simple check can save a life. 💙

👀 If you see a child alone in a vehicle, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Temperatures are rising and we want you and your loved ones to be safe.

In an EMERGENCY Call 9-1-1

Heat Advisory Tips:
• Stay hydrated
• Avoid alcohol
• Stay cool indoors
• Check on elderly or disabled loved ones and friends
• ***Never leave children or pets in a vehicle.
o ***Not even for a minute.
o ***Check the back seat.

Know the signs of heat-related illness:

Heat Exhaustion:
Signs:
• Dizziness
• Thirst
• Heavy sweating
• Nausea
• Weakness
What to do:
• Move to a cooler area
• Loosen clothing
• Sip cool water
• Seek medical help if no improvement

Heat Stroke:
Signs:
• Confusion
• Dizziness
• Loses consciousness
What to do:
• CALL 9-1-1
• Move the person to a cooler area
• Loosen clothing, remove extra layers
• Cool with water/ice

The annual Light Ohio Blue campaign, an effort that reaches every corner of our great state, is fast approaching. This powerful initiative unites communities of all sizes with their local law enforcement agencies to honor Ohio's fallen officers and show support for those currently serving across the Buckeye State.

This year's campaign will run from May 6th through May 16th in conjunction with National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day. During these eleven days, Ohioans are invited to change their porch and exterior lights to blue as a visible symbol of gratitude and solidarity with the men and women who protect our communities every day.
