Sit down with Tycie Alcorn, YWCA of Northwest Ohio's Youth Development Director and a proud member of the YWomen Leadership Circle, to discuss the impact of our youth development programs for teens across Northwest Ohio and why empowering young people is an investment in our community's future.

The YWCA of Northwest Ohio is committed to helping young people discover their potential, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create brighter futures through engaging programs that support their growth both in and out of the classroom.

Through the YWomen Leadership Circle, passionate supporters help make this work possible by providing advocacy, outreach, expertise, funding, and meaningful connections that expand the YWCA's impact throughout our region.

When we invest in young people, we invest in stronger families, stronger communities, and a brighter tomorrow.

We invite you to hear Tycie's story, learn about the life-changing work happening every day, and discover how joining the YWomen Leadership Circle can help create opportunities for the next generation.

16 years of impact and still growing 🌱

We’re proud to spotlight YWCA of Northwest Ohio, a longtime member of Wyman’s National Network, serving young people in Toledo and Lima through TOP.

The YWCA of Northwest Ohio Youth Development Lima TOP Club’s community garden is a powerful example of youth leadership in action. Planned, planted, and cared for by teens, the garden is growing fresh produce and sharing it with families, food banks, senior centers, and community partners — creating meaningful impact across the community.

With support from a $1,500 Activate Allen County grant, matched by the City of Lima Mayor’s Office, plus donations from local businesses and residents, this project continues to bloom in a big way.

We're proud to highlight this incredible group that is focusing on youth leadership, community partnership, and the power of creating healthier futures together. 💙

➡ YWCA of Northwest Ohio Provides Continuum of Advocacy & Programming for Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Victims

👉 If you are looking for resources for yourself or your family in any capacity, the YWCA urges you to reach out to see how they can help provide or link you to the appropriate resources you may be seeking.

From parenting classes to victim services, from youth programming to breast cancer awareness and early detection, from support groups to community baby showers, the YWCA provides such a continuum of support. You can get involved whether seeking help or looking to help support the community by joining the YW’s donor circle.

The YWCA of Northwest Ohio has been serving Lucas County residents for nearly 50 years, in helping to provide victims of both domestic violence and sexual assault with a continuum of care 24/7. YWCA advocates provide not only two 24/7 hotlines, 24/7 hospital-based advocacy, and emergency shelter, but also facilitate safety planning, court advocacy, case management, transportation, and additional resources. These resources can be accessed by individuals and families in need of help, whether or not they need to become residents in the emergency shelter.

We are saddened by the loss of the Family Child Abuse Prevention Center's (FCPAC) Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program. The program has been a vital community resource for years.

We want survivors and their families to know help remains available. The YWCA stands ready to step in, provide support, and connect individuals with the services they need during this transition.

Rachael Gardner, YWCA Chief Program Officer, shares, “We are heartbroken to hear the news this important community-based program is closing. We want survivors and community members to know that there is still help available for them. The YWCA is committed to standing readily available to serve survivors whenever we can, wherever we can.” As FCAPC has previously mentioned, the need for domestic violence advocacy remains as urgent as ever.

The YWCA Victim Services Department-trained advocates remain in the community, and resources are still available to support domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking survivors. 🧡
