Sometimes training really is all fun and games! 💦🚒

Last week, we were joined by Siletz Valley RFPD for a little friendly competition while practicing hose skills with a game of Water Ball.

It may look like just a good time …. and it definitely was but drills like this are a great way to work on nozzle control, hose handling, communication, and teamwork.

There’s no such thing as practicing the basics too much. 🚒🔥

Over the last two weeks, Toledo Fire crews have been training alongside Siletz Valley RFPD, putting in hands on work with some of the core skills of structural firefighting.

From connecting to hydrants and establishing a water supply to pulling hose and advancing lines, crews had the chance to learn, practice, and sharpen the skills they’ll rely on when the call comes in.

Two departments. One team when it matters. 💪

Join us on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Field for an evening focused on community, connection, and public safety.

Meet members of the Toledo Police Department, Toledo Fire Department, public safety staff, neighborhood groups, and local community organizations. Families will also have the opportunity to see emergency vehicles up close and spend time with the people who help keep Toledo safe.

Big congratulations to Deputy Chief Morford, Lieutenant Sanning, and Firefighter Kilgore!

This past week, they have been in Boise at the Idaho Medical Academy completing their Practical Skills Week as part of their Advanced EMT certification. We’re proud to share that all three successfully passed their practical skills testing this morning!

Their dedication to continuing their education and strengthening their skills is an investment in the safety and care of our community. Please join us in congratulating them on this outstanding accomplishment!
