Join us for an inspiring afternoon of patriotic music, storytelling, dance, and community celebration on Sunday, June 14 from 2–4 PM at the Tama County Courthouse lawn & bandstand. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a family-friendly event honoring our nation’s history, flag, and spirit—complete with performances by local talent, community singing, and special appearances inspired by America’s founding story.

The Iowa nonresident deer hunting application period is currently open. Applications close June 7, so there's still plenty of time to apply.

🚨 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 – 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘 🚨

At the request of our great Tama County Recorder, we are putting this out because we are seeing a sharp increase in residents getting scammed while trying to apply for or renew a passport.

Here are the facts.

Passport forms are FREE.

You do not pay a website to download a passport form. You do not pay a website to “submit” your application for you.

There is only one official website: travel.state.gov

If you are entering payment information on any other site just to access forms, you are likely paying the wrong place.

When applying locally, there are only two legitimate payments:
• A processing fee paid to the Tama County Recorder’s Office
• A separate payment to the U.S. Department of State

Both of those payments are handled properly through the Recorder’s Office.

We recently had another resident pay $125 to a third party website before ever coming into the office. That money did not go where they thought it did.

If you are unsure, stop and call the Tama County Recorder’s Office before paying anything online.
