Today is !

The holiday, which originated in Galveston, Texas, in 1865, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. This day represents freedom and justice for Black Americans and serves as an opportunity for all of us to educate ourselves about the continued impact of trauma caused by slavery.

Today, we’re focusing on uplifting Black voices in mental health by highlighting Black-led mental health organizations. We hope you’ll celebrate Juneteenth by supporting their work. β™₯️

πŸ“’ NOW OPEN: Request for Proposals for Access in Action Plan Consultant & Facilitator

The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County is officially seeking an innovative partner to help shape our next-generation accessibility framework.

Building upon our foundational Equity in Action work, the Access in Action Plan will deliberately shift our focus toward identifying and dismantling the systemic, real-world barriers that prevent local residents from reaching behavioral health care.

We are seeking a consultant to design a community-embedded model that addresses six core access barrier domains: Awareness (Public knowledge of available care) Navigation (Clarity of system entry points and provider handoffs) Geography (Equitable distribution of services across Lucas County) Language (Accessibility of materials for non-English speakers) Stigma (Overcoming systemic distrust or fear) System Complexity (Reducing structural or procedural delays) We are looking for evidence-informed, community-tested approaches that meaningfully capture population-level change and elevate the voices of individuals with lived experience.

πŸ—“οΈ Critical Timeline:
June 22, 2026: Deadline to register for the virtual Bidders Conference

BUILDING BRIDGES FOR OUR COMMUNITY'S MENTAL WELLNESS & RECOVERY πŸŒ‰βœ¨

Real well-being happens right where we live, work, and gather. We are officially accepting applications for our Mental Wellness Community Grants! We are awarding funding of up to $5,000 per project to invest in innovative, everyday supports led by the people who know our neighborhoods best.

⚠️ Please note: This opportunity is strictly designed for local, grassroots initiatives. We want to fund everyday community supports that help Lucas County residents build healthy daily habits, stay connected, and find or maintain a meaningful path of recovery.

We are looking to fund local projects focused on:

🀝 Reducing Stigma: Initiatives that build understanding and break down isolation.

🧠 Everyday Wellness Skills: Creative workshops, peer circles, or activities promoting mental well-being.

🌱 Paths to Recovery Support: Neighborhood-based programs, mentoring, or social networks helping individuals navigate and sustain recovery.

🏑 Connecting Neighborhoods: Bringing people together to foster community support and resilience.

Eligibility Check:

βœ… You are a local community group, neighborhood association, or faith-based team. (This grant does not fund formal, state-licensed clinical agencies.)

βœ… Your group's total annualized budget is under $750,000.

βœ… Your project directly serves Lucas County residents and finishes by December 31, 2026.

⏳ Deadline to Apply: June 30 at 5:00 PM. Late or incomplete application packets cannot be reviewed, so ensure all required templates (like your budget form) are saved and uploaded as PDFs.
