The Tama County Emergency Management Office is proud to help share the Tama County Flag Day Photo Contest being organized by Tama County Economic Development.

We encourage everyone to submit photos showcasing the American flags flying across Tama County!

Join us for an inspiring afternoon of patriotic music, storytelling, dance, and community celebration on Sunday, June 14 from 2–4 PM at the Tama County Courthouse lawn & bandstand. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a family-friendly event honoring our nation’s history, flag, and spirit—complete with performances by local talent, community singing, and special appearances inspired by America’s founding story.

🎶 Patriotic music by the Community Band, group singalongs & more
🎨 Kid-friendly activities, coloring contest & prizes
🍦 Free cake & ice cream following the program

🎥 Bonus! Catch the documentary “After Ike” at 1 PM at the Wieting Theater before the celebration.

Summer is here!

Pleasant, summer conditions continue the rest of the week and into the weekend with highs in the 80s. Occasional showers or storms may occur at times in western Iowa but most will stay dry.

Cooler temperatures to end the work week.

Cooler weather will prevail for the remainder of this week. It will be dry from tonight through Wednesday night, and on Wednesday morning temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 30s in parts of northern and western Iowa, where patchy frost will be possible in low-lying areas. High temperatures from Wednesday through Friday will only range in the upper 50s to mid 60s each day. Clouds and rain chances will increase from late Thursday through Friday, with a few thunderstorms possible but severe weather unlikely.

* Until 945 PM CDT.

* At 906 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Gilman, or 7 miles north of Grinnell, moving
northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* WHERE - Western and central Iowa.

* WHEN - Isolated storms will develop in central Iowa after 3pm, before becoming more widespread. A line of storms is expected to enter Iowa from the west and continue overnight through Sunday morning.
