The Tomah Area Veterans Memorial is located in Memorial Park at 515 N. Superior Avenue (US Highway 12), just north of downtown Tomah. The Tomah Area Veterans Memorial Campaign was launched in an effort to recognize all area veterans. With the region’s long and continuing military heritage, there was unwavering community support for the project. A design was selected and fundraising began in 2009.
Ground was broken July 6, 2010 and the Memorial was dedicated September 10, 2011. Memorial construction costs are estimated to top more than $200,000, including the monument, surrounding landscaping and displays. Funding for our Memorial has come from some corporate, but mostly individual donations and sales of Memorial bricks and tiles. No public monies have been used. Many in-kind donations by local corporations have also been key to developing the site and the Memorial itself. Please visit our website for a list or our supporting corporate benefactors. With your financial contribution, the Memorial will remain a Tomah landmark for many years.
