The Southern Economic Development Council named Tomball EDC Best in Class, Large Division at its 2026 Communications Awards in Bonita Springs on August 18. Assistant Director Tiffani Wooten accepted on behalf of the organization.

The winning entry was the Made in Tomball foodie video. Winkler Public Relations was an amazing partner in capturing, and producing, our vision for this project. Link to view the video is in the comments!

SEDC scores submissions from across a 17-state footprint on design, strategy, innovation, and impact. This year’s judges were site selection consultants and marketing professionals, which means the people evaluating the work do the same thing site selectors do when they size up a city.

Developing, or evaluating a site in Tomball? Here's the kind of thing worth knowing before you're deep into site work.

The City's master plan sometimes calls for a larger utility main than a single project needs. Your development might call for a much smaller line than the plan requires. When that happens, the City covers the incremental pipe material cost for the added capacity. The developer still builds what their own project requires, and each agreement goes to Council.

That's a real line item, and it's not something you'd find browsing a website. The City has been participating in these costs already. Council approved Ordinance 2026-38 on first reading Aug. 17, which puts the practice in writing.

Tomball EDC doesn't issue permits or set utility policy. What we do is know how development works in Tomball and connect you with the right people at the City early, so you're planning around real answers instead of assumptions.

Cut your water use in Tomball, and you can cut your impact fees.

City Council has adopted an ordinance establishing credits against water and wastewater impact fees for development that reuses water or measurably reduces what a project consumes. It defines what qualifies and how the credit gets calculated.

Texas requires cities to offer these credits under Senate Bill 14. Tomball wrote the local rules early, so a project here isn't waiting on a process that hasn't been built yet.

Predictable rules are part of what makes a site worth a second look.

Tomball is getting ready to welcome chamber and business leaders from across the Gulf Coast region for the 2026 GCCE Leadership Conference.

Join GCCE and the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, August 28, from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM at the Tomball ISD Event Center for a morning focused on leadership development, professional growth and regional connection.

The program features Michael Laidler presenting “Fueling Resilience” and Dr. William Attaway presenting “The Culture Dividend: The Business Case for Authentic Appreciation.”

It’s the first day of school in Tomball! 📚

The Tomball Economic Development Corporation wishes all Tomball ISD students, families, teachers, and staff a wonderful start to the new school year.

As everyone settles back into the school-year routine, please allow a little extra time on the roads and stay alert for school buses, active school zones, students walking or biking, and families traveling to and from campus.
